Topic: Peta wants Ben and Jerry to use Human milk, not cow milk!

Wow! Peta as you most know is for good treatment of animals tends to be on the extreme side of things. Tho they do some good, they often sure think different that's for sure!

The contacted Ben and Jerry saying they should use Human Breast milk not the Vermont Cows currently used!

How in the heck would they get enough milk from a woman, how much would you have to pay her?? Crazy here is the story:

(emmy)  I saw that in the paper yesterday and I was LMAO! I mean, seriously, who is going to buy that ice cream?  Did anyone at PETA REALLY think B&J would go for this idea?  Knowing it would ruin their business?  Second, how are they supposed to get that much milk from a woman?  Their ice cream is already expensive.  What would they charge, 20 dollars per pint?  Third, if milking cows is wrong, why the he!! is it okay to do to a woman?  That was just the most absurd thing I've ever heard from them, and PETA has done some strange things.

And maybe I'll get flack for this from La Leche League, but attaching milkers to a woman's breasts isn't a walk in the park either. Please not that I breast fed, but pumping was annoying and irritating after doing it so often.  So maybe it's people abuse too...

The only thing I want Ben and Jerry's to do is lower their price.  I refuse to buy it because if Turkey Hill, Edy's and Blue Bell can sell it cheaper so can they.

I skipped over this earlier but came back just see if Martimmy had something to say.  He did not disappoint!

I don't why the thought of ice cream made with human milk grosses me out but cow milk doesn't.  Hmmm. . .

Well, to be fair, they don't actually expect it to work. Further down in the article is this quote from a PETA rep:

"We're aware this idea is somewhat absurd, and that putting it into practice is a stretch. At the time same, it's pretty absurd for us to be drinking the milk of cows," she said.

As ML said, they're trying to make a point and looking silly in the process.

  • What may seem absurd to some people isn't necessarily absurd to others... I hate how they decide for other people! Grrr. (HC - who, incidentally, hates milk!)

So it's inhumane to pull on a cow's teats but not a woman't t!ts? That group started out with a good cause and has turned into a bunch of nutcases IMO.

I'm not surprised or shocked with anything those psychos come up with. They've taken a worthwhile cause and made themselves into a complete joke who will do anything for publicity. I wonder if they really even try to prevent actual animal atrocities anymore.

  • It is publicity! I do care about animals most of us do, but we can protect animals and also do research if really needed! Bon

What idiots!  It is way better to have a bunch of women sitting in a barn getting milk than the poor cows!  Paleeasse!

  • that is my question how in the heck does Peta except it would work. Where are they do get the women to do this?? blows your mind! LOL~~Bon
  • Celebrities could donate milk at a Ben & Jerry's Breast Pumping Telethon and then they could sell the pints of ice cream for lots of money and give it to charity. I bet there would be a lot of guys who would pay big bucks to lick Jessica Alba's breast ice cream, for instance. eom Martimmy
  • OMG Martimmy I just about barfed!~~sandy
  • LOL!! Hey, PETA doesn't care if you barf, only if a cow barfs from its 6 stomachs. eom Martimmy

Umm...I'm pretty sure that Ben & Jerry wouldn't be so popular anymore. I don't even want to IMAGINE the taste...much less know the taste.

It's only 7:34am here in AK, but I think I might eat some Ben & Jerry's today at work...while it's still made of cow's milk! LOL!

PS: I just got warned for the word "eat" and the word "me" being next to each other...uhh...okay.

A friend sent this story to me, and she got my rant.  Here it is:

''Ok, here's the thing: PETA is right about a lot, and they have serious and important messages, but they screw it all up and the whole animal rights community and its issues loses credibility and is scoffed at because they are always pulling this kind of stupid crap.  Meanwhile all across the country are 4 X 4 cages stuffed with 16 chickens that can’t move let alone spread their wings, with sores and skin infections and stuffed with antibiotics because they’ve been living like that for a year.  And millions of sickly emaciated cows are constantly hooked up to torture devices meant to excrete 200 times the amount of milk they are supposed to, before they are carted off and crammed like sardines in a 120 degree truck to be grinded up before they are even dead.  Oh, and if the chickens and cows aren’t ready to reproduce, well there is always a lovely thing called “forced molting” which forces them to breed far beyond what they were meant to.  The idiots at PETA are hurting there own cause, and in turn the animals continue to suffer. Whew that felt good''

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to rant again. LOL.

  • OMG I can't believe I spelled
  • ...........''their'' wrong. I really do know better. That's how upset I was!.....rleigh
  • Its like PETA does these things just for publicity! They need to keep working on those other issues. My Daughter is a Vegetarian, and joined PETA, but doesn't really do anything with them. She does eat all dairy and eggs. We try to get the free range chicken and eggs. My older son sent the article to me, he was grossed out! ~~Bon~~
  • Oh the chickens that are processed for, well, eating chickens...they are only alive for six weeks...not a year. Your friend is probably talking about laying chicks though. AngD
  • Oh, I thought I heard they lived for a year and half. I went to an informative Veg Fest not long after watching Fast Food Nation PLUS the DVD extras. I was apalled at what the farm factories do, but the Humane Society seems to be gaining ground. The greed got so out of control so fast but the laws are starting to catch up......eom rleigh

  • They're all freaking out but at the end Ross gives in and tries the breast milk...or something like that. It's been a LONG TIME since I've watched that show...used to be one of my favorites! Cecilia
