Doesn't sound like being arrested taught her the difference.

Sad stuff, really.
Total skank.
#1---she should have waxed
#2--she should have shaved her face
#3--where the hell is her mother?

I was first struck when she said she didn't know why she couldn't get into her prom (something like that). That's very tragic, if she doesn't GET IT. Doesn't get it, doesn't see anything wrong with it, & apparently no one in her life to teach her otherwise & prevent her from heading out the door dressed like that. Glad the principal stuck to his guns.
I hold the school district administration responsible, to some degree (of course the ultimate responsibility is the parent or guardian).
My daughter had a band banquet last weekend, and we bought her the cutest dress at Ross to wear with it. It was sleeveless, green cotton with eyelet trim, knee length; basically a summer sun dress. This isn't it but it was very similar to this one, only green instead of blue:
She had to wear a white T-shirt under it. The dress really looked much better without the tee, but the (public) school has a rule that no sleeveless tops/dresses can be worn alone, unless the straps are greater than 2 inches wide. This is at any school function, even prom.
This rule seems too extreme but it certainly does prevent anyone wearing slutty outfits like the one in this video.

I think perhaps she should have used some of the material for the dress' train for the bodice.

While I do think the dress is not only inappropriate for a teen, I also think it is hideous. But I would bet money that if it were a famous celebrity in that dress, there would be people commenting on how great she looked.

I was reading some of the comments that were left on the newspaper's website. The vast majority of people thought the girl looked like a slut and wondered how the parents could let their daughter out of the house looking like that.
What I thought was interesting were the comments that the school went too far in calling the police. I disagree. I think that as the situation escalated, it was appropriate to call the police. My guess to what happened was that she was barred from prom and was told to leave. Instead of leaving, she continued to argue and to create a scene. At that point, she was trespassing and was again given the option of getting arrested or going home. In her own words she said "They didn’t give me any options but to go to jail or go home.” So, in my never to be humble opinion, she made the decision to be arrested on her prom night.
I have to wonder what goes through these girls' minds. It's your senior prom. It's a chance to shine. But instead of looking like a million bucks, they want to look like hookers who charge a million bucks instead. Good for the school to sticking to their rules. I wouldn't be in favor of handcuffs unless she was really causing a disturbance, and she probably was.
AND she was given guidelines as to what she couldn't wear, yet she and/or her parents still thought she could buck the rules and show up looking like a rap video extra.
She shouldn't be proud of the dress. The color looks like baby vomit, it's butt ugly, and she seems not to have the grace to pull this type of outfit off. Luckily she's got no boobs, or she'd be breaking even more decency rules.
I don't want to sound like a judgemental prude, but there are many people in society who judge people by how they dress, especially women. There isn't a lot of respect out there for people who think this is presentable attire unless you're on the red carpet. I don't see her faring well in an office with a dress code.

I like how in the article it says while she regrets how things turned out, Taylor thinks she had little choice. "They didn't give me any options, but to go to jail or go home,” she said.
How about the choice when she (or a friend) sewed that little number in creating a dress that didn't make her look like a two bit hooker? That's where her choice was. Her choice wasn't to show up to a nice hotel and expect to be allowed in to a formal dance with that as her dress. Her friend managed to find a dress that was appropriate.

Wow, I can't believe she isn't embarrassed. And what's up with the reporters asking her to model the dress?
Well for cryin out loud!!.....if that were my daughter she wouldn't have left the house!! Sad that the adults in her life let her buy it in the first place. I do think they should have given her back her $$!
I'm with Misspm. Where are the parents? And what do they do for a living that would make them believe that "dress" is acceptable prom attire? Hmmmm.... And I'm left shaking my head at a public school system that releases stupid people into the real world without any common sense. I guess Common Sense 101 is an elective or something. : )
My favorite gown will always be the Pregnant Prom Dress

I say neither. When I look at that dress, I do not see prom or beach but I'll keep to myself what I do see.
Question. Does she have parents? Did they know she was leaving the house in that...for a PROM? Or was her mother the one that "custom" made that "dress" for her?
Yesterday when I was in the bookstore, I saw a book entitled "Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like A Skank!" No kidding. I wonder if there is a teenage version.
Oh, and good for the counselor that stopped her and the Principal of the school, who held his ground. I would be surprised if no dress code requirements had been sent home as they usually are for these things.
