Why isn't Coleman at the hospital? You'd think since he was Patrick's best man, he'd be there along with everyone else.
Speaking of Coleman, did anyone see him on Showtime's Dexter on Sunday night? He was great! Played a very, very, very bad guy.

Message: Well, this is a question that seems not to really need an answer, but here I sit, doing nothing, so I'd guess that Coleman didn't go to the hospital because he has a business to run, and going to a hospital to wait for a baby to be born takes time that only close friends and relatives usually want to spend there. Coleman is not a close friend of Patrick, who invited him to be his best man not because he was so attached to him but rather because Patrick has never so far made a close friend who is a man in Port Charles. I'd say this has little to do with Patrick's personality but rather the writers' indifference to a very big matter in writing soap, and that is the matter of friendship. We used to think that Sonny and Jason were close friends, maybe even the closest friends in the town, but it turns out that once Sonny dumped his 'mob' on Jason, then wanted it back suddenly and Jason refused, Sonny no longer regards Jason as a friend at all. Back in the day Monica and Bobbi Spencer were close friends, but Monica got a bit tiffed when she found out that her husband was enjoying a closer friendship with Bobbie than Monica was. Way back before that, Luke had a buddy who was a cab driver. It seemed a bit like a friendship built by the writers only to base a few laughs on, but Spike actually comes closer to my definition of a friend than most other characters in the story today. Caly has Jason for a friend, but it seems to be a one sided friendship. It embarrasses him most of the time and she mistakes her feelings for him, I think. She has a thing for him that she has tried to bury under the word friendship, and she has wrecked her marriage with Jax by insisting that even though she wants her remaining son to be kept from his gangster father, she herself is free to run to Jason for any little difficulty. Lulu might be a friend, but it makes some people shudder to think that Lulu is getting all of her advice from somebody like Carly. But then, friendships have never been easy to explain.
