Topic: Call me crazy but I like Sarah J Brown and her character Claudia

Additional Comments:

I started watching GH again after many years of being away and I must say I am really enjoying Sarah Brown's portrayal of Claudia. Sure the mob stuff can be a bit much at times and her "love" for her brother kind of crosses the borderline but I still think Sarah is kicking some major a$$.  I loved her as the original Carly and was disappointed she left that role several years ago (Laura Wright has kind of won me over in the role now though) but she is terrific as Claudia. Sarah holds her own against all the guys and I love her snarkiness against Kate (though I do like Megan Ward and the character of Kate) as well as Carly and even Sonny.

Believe me I watched Sarah a few years ago on As The World Turns and she was so wrong for that show. Her role as Julia on ATWT was a major bore and Sarah couldn't seem to get a handle on the role. But she is jumping off the screen back on GH. I know she isn't every one's cup of tea but I think she is a hoot! She is one of  major reasons I am enjoying the mob story on GH. I hope she stays on for a while this time.

Good job Sarah - keep it up!

I could not stand the character of Carly back when Sara B was playing her. Tamara saved Carly (for me), and LW simply IS Carly. That said, I am totally enjoying Sara Brown as Claudia. We do not need yet another mob figure, and I resent the Zacharas smothering out my beloved Q's, but Claudia has been a hoot to watch.  Sara has nailed this complex character - as someone else mentioned, she literally jumps off the screen. I loved her scene with bodyguard Logan yesterday; she let him know there was no messing with the Tigress. She did not let herself be bullied, she never cowed, not for one moment. However, like others have mentioned the closeness between her and Johnny is uncomfortable to watch.  They definitely need to tone it down - its a turn off for both characters.

You are not alone. I like Claudia, I like Sarah Brown and I like the Z Family. I like that Claudia acts the way she wants to act and dresses the way she wants to dress and doesn't change just because it makes others disgusted. We spend far too much time in life caring about what other people think anyway. I am glad they have a character on the show that isn't afraid to be who she is whether that is a bigot or what have you. Because guess what? In life there are bigots. In life there are people who are unlikable. And in life, usually these bigots/creeps/evil-doers are the way they are because of insecurity, jealousy, bad childhoods and sometimes these people have perfectly healthy childhoods and still snap. In my opinion, the characters who aren't angelic and holier than thou are far more interesting than the characters who pretend to be, not naming any names. But that's just me.

That said, why are some folks assuming that Claudia is not going to pay for indirectly putting Michael into a coma? Perhaps because Guza is never that ballsy? Yes, perchance. Still, if you ask me, this whole thing with Jason seems to be a set up. Because as soon as he is able to tolerate Claudia, develop a friendship with her or maybe more, then he will learn the truth and drop her or kill her. Take your pick. Believe me, Liason is not over. This is just a wrench in their story. Besides, how many people have already threatened to do away with the person who hurt Michael? Jax, Jason, and Sonny have all told Claudia to her face that they'd hunt down and kill or what have you to whoever hurt Michael. I'm sure you can add Carly to that list. We also must remember that Claudia's intent was never to hurt Michael. It was in fact to get rid of Sonny. Clearly, Claudia and Johnny are wannabe mobsters, but at least they are willing to take risks.

I think this is the most interesting mob storyline in years on this show. Finally, we have people who are willing to put hits out on people, etc. Of course they won't be successful at it because then that'd mean Maurice Benard would be out of a job and God forbid that to happen (And besides, I like Sonny). And finally we have the repercussions of those actions. Whether that be Michael getting hurt, Carly finally seeing the light, or whatever. I mean, let's be real, when Lily blew up in the car, did I care? Of course not. Did any character on the show besides Sonny care for that matter? But the characters do care about Michael. It's about time someone significant is placed in the line of fire.

Well, someone beat me to it, but I'll go for it anyway. You are CRAZY! LOL. ;-)

But there is a good side to having Sarah/Claudia on GH. I FF through ALL of her scenes. Between my FF's of Carley, Claudia, Sam and any 'mob' talk, I get through the show in about 20 minutes these days. Oh, toss in Nicolas and his ghostly girlfriend. They are truly FF material.

Oh for the days of good GH. I wish they would just start showing the show from the beginning, the old black and white days, with Jessie Brewer, et al. Now THAT would be heaven. And the ratings would go sky high. Anyone out there listening?

  • Yes, that would be a heaven on earth! Luna

I know what you mean. I can't stand Claudia, though, but while I'm hating her, I have to admire the way Sarah has taken on all the body language, the facial expressions, the vocal mechanics of a thoroughly challenging, and by-the-way hateful person.  I'm sure we will soon hear what made her that way, if we can't already guess.

There was an actor on AMC a few years ago, who could do the same thing. William de Vry, I think his name is, and he, too, knew all the buttons to push to make one's blood boil.  Like Sarah, he invaded other peoples' space, and he's not very tall, but his character, Michael Cambias, could be so aggressive and so insulting and so smug and pleased with himself, as Claudia can now, especially when she talks down to another woman.

I had to laugh today when the great big security guard at Tony Zachara's new quarters tried to get her out of her father's room.  The way she turned on him out in the hall, even took half a step forward as if she was going to hit him, her eyes widening as seh did, and he backed right off and left.  This is Chutspah at its peak.  She lends a great deal of energy to every scene she's in, and I can tolerate that because I see what's she's doing, but I confess that her schmoozing with Johnny bids fair to turn my tummy.  Is she going to own up to incest one of these episodes, or what?  The space invasion, the touching, the languid looks. the hair stroking are too much.  Sarah knows her stuff.  Her Claudia could have intimidated Jimmy Cagney, Edward G. Robinson, and Bogie, all packed together in their gangster suits in one room.

  • I completely agree! I could not stand Sara B back when she played Carly; could not understand why so many thought she was all that. BUT...all I can say about her portrayal of Claudia is WOW!! She has totally nailed this character. BTW: I also watch AMC and agree with what you said about the actor who portrayed Michael Cambias. /NiteOwl

I just like Sarah Brown's acting. I kept liking Carly when she played her no matter how stupid and rude and self-destructive she got, and now I hate Carly and am liking Claudia. Kind of like how it is SO hard to hate the dispicable character of Rick because I love the actor.

I sure don't agree on this one. I don't bash actors, so I will only say that I loathe this character. I can't stand the mob anyway, but I have no compassion or understanding of this trashy "piece of garbage" character, and I resent that she has taken center stage nearly every single day on GH. I also disagree about Sarah's portrayal of Carly. I would prefer Laura Wright, Tamara Braun, Jennifer Branston or just about anyone else to Sarah Brown. Sarah is a fine actress. However, she brings an edge to a character that really turns me off. As a matter of fact, the whole Zacchara family is a turn-off to me. I am about ready to pack in GH for good including canceling "Soapnet". It has been 40 years of loyalty to this show for me. It is the worst now that it has ever been, and Sarah Brown's Claudia is just about the last nail in the coffin for me. I really am sorry. I sure didn't mean to jump on you. We are all entitled to our opinions, but I think the ratings will bear me out on this one.

  • CAM. This is a nasty character GH didn't need. A show already full of unlikable, even loathsome characters, GH needs someone new (or old) that we can actually relate to, like, root for and enjoy. There is nothing enjoyable about Claudia, nothing at all sympathetic. If they wait until now to tell us she had a miserable lufe and we should forgive all the ugliness, too late. If they wait much longer to explain Jerry, it is going to be too late. But Jerry is charming to watch—Claudia is not. GHFan.

There are two of us!  Who loves Sarah that is.  I am pretty sick of the mob though and wish the Zs had not drivien out the Qs.  Even so, it is fun to watch Sarah at work, and I am still wondering what Claudia is really up to.  Wouldn't trust her and am still wondering if she is playing Johnnie or really loves him... she plays that leaving you in doubt so well.  I guess if we have to have more mob I am glad she is part of it.
