Since they're passing out brain tumors and miracle meds on GH, why don't they pass some Jerry's way so they can redeem the character?
On GH, people can murder and stab people, but everything is forgotten by the miracle of modern medicine. AZ is schizo, but he has meds, so his past is forgiven (by AZ). Sonny has meds, so all his girlfriends forgive his violent behavior and try to rationalize it. Jason had a brain injury, so after brain surgery the Q's forgave his violent behavior. What's-her-name kidnapped a baby, but it was forgotten and forgiven, because she needed medical help. Nick stabbed Jerry, nearly killed Sam, and had violent temper outbursts, but all was forgiven because he had a brain tumor.
The way GH has written Jerry's character, it makes it difficult for the audience to forgive him (except me!).

I agree LJ. It passes my understanding why these writers cannot do anything but ruin characters they've invented. In the case of Jerry, I'd say it's been more the actor's charm that has kept Jerry going, while the writers seem to find no end of ways to make it impossible for him to fulfill his three year contract. It isn't that I'm appalled at his knifing Claudia, it's that it won't do the story any good. I don't consider Claudia to be a character worth keeping, but Jerry is or was or should have been, because the actor has the sort of ability that should have made some difference to his story. The idiocy of having him shank her in a dark warehouse and then have Alexis run in off the alley to cry out: "What are you doing here?" is just beyond belief. Does she follow him to restroom doors, too?
I could be happy to think of Claudia floating off quietly dead, but we all know she'll show up at Prince Nick's gloomy mansion, where he and Alfred will no doubt nurse her back to what passes in her for health. I suppose the idea was that if somebody hurt Claudia then we all would go 'Awwwww!' and forgive her for being a one-note character, not witty, as they must think, not understandable, as they must hope, and not to be used as Prince Tattoo's next love-of-his-life, surely. If that's what they plan then I hope that Helena arrives by the secret passage and knifes her again.
What Jerry has done has probably sunk him as a character, and what for? He was in no danger from this mouthy trollop, even if she did tell people that he was 'in' on the plot to kill Sonny. This is something we've already found out about Claudia, that she tells so many lies nobody, even in her own family, believes her by now. And even the moronic writers must be ready to let this Mikie gets shot story, since the month is winding down and the mail telling them that this has to have been the most boring, dreary, repetitious story ever used for a sweeps month.
It might not have been a bad idea to kill Claudia, since the hoped for ratings leap they felt Susan Brown would give the show has failed to appear, but it's very bad to ruin a good actor like Sebastian Roche, whose time with the Gh must be shortened now. Unless he can develop a brain tumor. Or maybe Helena brainwashed him, as she once did Lucky, and has sent him to PC to --- pick up a certain mysterious disk that we never heard the last word on. Hmm.
