Additional Comments:

JJ just isn't working for me this go round.  His acting aside, I can't get passed the facial hair....either grow it or shave it!  His face looks dirty.  And what is up with that strip under his lip?  It's just too distracting to me.  I'm probably the minority, but I much prefer Greg Vaughn in the role.

I liked JJ years ago as Lucky, but I am not caring too much for this supposed older version.  He stills looks and sounds the same to me, except that now he has facial hair.  I much prefer GV in the role, and I was looking forward to seeing GV's Lucky find out about Liz and Nikolas.

I love JJ, but I agree.  The way Lucky has become, I much prefer GV in the role.  He fits well with Geary, but not with Liz, Maxie and I assume Sam (whom he had relationships with).  I know JJ was with RH (Liz) years ago, but don't see any chemistry now.  He just doesn't cut it as the tough cop, which GV pulled off better.

I agree with you about Greg Vaughn.  He was so much more believable in the role.  I keep thinking JJ is playing dress-up, a child in adult's clothing.  His facial hair is too weird.  There is just too much going on on his face, goatee, tuft, side whiskers.  It is a mess and he needs professional help with that.

Well I am really LOVING JJ's Lucky. He seems genuine and believable, not over the top. I liked the last one, but this one is the real deal.

  • I agree! JJ is such a good actor, he brings life to Lucky. He is fighting massive re-writes of history, but he has the chops to make us believe again. I didn't dislike Greg, but it seemed a glaring case of miscasting. To someone who watched lucky grow up with his parents and family intact, Greg seemed out of left field. Nice guy, but not Lucky. I FEEL the real Lucky now--his emotions, his old ties to people. GHFan

I love JJ out of all the Luckys (the only one who truly has chemistry with Geary), but having to step into this character after all these years of previous -and current - writing regimes having Lucky to death is going to be a hard struggle for Jackson.

Vaughn could play the studly cop, but Jackson can't.  His scene with Jason in the interrogation room was hilarious, because Jackson looked young enough to play Michael!  And Jackson is too baby-faced and baby-voiced to be hard-edged.  Watching him in a scene with Maxie didn't work.  Vaughn's Lucky was a totally different character.   And - please don't flame me, because I ADORE Jackson, but his mannerisms are very effeminate.  When he sat down on the bench with Maxie on the pier, the way he sat down and crossed his legs was very dandyish.  Jackson's Lucky is not tough and manly.  Hopefully, they will have Lucky abandon the police gig and go into something more Jacksonesque.

  • I meant to say having HACKED Lucky to death ... eom.slinkykitty
  • OMG, I thought I was the only one who noticed the way he sat down on the pier. It did look a bit feminine to me.
