There's an article in the newest TV Guide about the slide of all the soaps and GUIDING LIGHT is mentioned specifically, noting that the actors now have to change their "costumes" in cars and do their own make-up in rearview mirrors.

God bless Jeanne Cooper from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, who comes right and says that if you give viewers what they want, they WILL watch.

It's mostly obvious that they are reduced to doing their own hair and makeup. It will only get worse as winter sets in and these poor actors are out in the snow and freezing rain every day and it does seem to rain a whole lot in Peapack! I feel sorry for the actors. And that they are changing wardrobes in the car is appalling, but does not surprise me. I'm amazed that they have any actors left on this show.

Actors don't do their own makeup, they can't! With HD there are specific techniques, particularly airbrushing, that makes it virtually impossible for actors to do it themselves! Hair is another story. The pros haven't done such a great job in recent yrs! eom

The change worked very well for AMC, but GL is a whole other can of worms. This constant outside nonsense with one park bench and people walking in the middle of nowhere with shopping bags, GMAB! It's awful and they need to smarten up or no one will watch anymore.

Is this format change set in stone? I do enjoy outside shots but these people are outside all the time. It's almost like a Catch 22. GL is actually interesting in places yet looks bad most of the time. ATWT looks better and its unwatchable.

If P&G was really inclinded to go back to all studio shooting, they would. Someday it could be changed, but for the time being it won't be. They want to snow everyone into thinking that doing everything outside is cheaper, when it isn't. eom

Unfortunately, the actors aren't being listened to by TPTB (Corp) anymore than they have listened to the fans for the last 10+ yrs!

There was a time when actors did their own makeup, hair & provided most of their own wardrobe. But that was MANY decades ago. For the last 30+ that hasn't been the case. I'm more than a bit surprised that AFTRA is going along w/this now.
