Topic: It's still a disaster--will someone turn that music off?

Additional Comments: There's no writing. There's no overall purpose to the show, no history, just sort of nonsense. This is what happened to Another World at the end. It's just riffing and laffing and kitsch.
Meanwhile, the indoor sets look terrible, the lighting is abysmal and the sound remains a mystery. The Closeups -- I can't watch them. Takes 12 mins to ff through the hour.
On the whole, a waste of 12 minutes. Very sad. KZ looks like she's making it up as she goes along.

The show keeps on going from bad to worse. On Friday I watched some of it, yesterday (Monday) I turned it off and switched over to the British shows on public TV. The new Reva (her life) story line is probably the most awful idea they've come up with yet. It bores me to tears. I feel the same thing creeping up on me that happened with Y&R, ATWT and B&B. At different times, I got disgusted with all three shows, but kept watching and hanging in there, and then, all of sudden one day I just tuned them out and quit "cold turkey." It's like breaking up with a lover. Little by little, the relationship starts to cool, and then something happens that is the last straw, and it's over. Between me and GL, Reva's "life story" is that last straw.

Didn't see Friday's episode (don't care), saw 15 minutes (approx) on Thursday, missed Wednesday, saw about 30 mins on Tuesday and Monday about 10 mins. Today as I'm watching (sorta) and typing here, I'm this close to permanently turning the Light off. Music replaces emotions and dialogue, filler scenes of the neighborhood don't make GL. (not for me) This new storyline about the movie of Mevah is as uninteresting as a bucket of cow manure. One question anyone know what happened to Dylan (? Brian Gaskill)???? Dinah and Reva and Marina and Ava all have the same Godawful hairstyle. Where in the world is Alex? And why didn't she help her brother out? (Doesn't she have her money and stockholdings?) The list goes on with this current disjointed writing team. Putrid.

I have not watched GL in a month.  I tuned in on Thursday and I watched the show.  What struck me most is the smallness of GL.  To me, a soap is supposed to be bigger than life, GL is not.  EW said she wanted the show to be real and I guess it is, but I have decided real is not very watchable.  GL is not like a soap opera and it is not like a prime time drama.  I can't figure out what it is.  It feels so detached, not only me from the show, but each of the characters feel like they are on their own little island.  It is a really strange feeling.  I watched AMC to see Ricky Goldin.  I have never watched the show, but it looked like a soap, felt like a soap.  I am not even a fan of Ricky but I thought I would check it out.  They hurt in ratings like GL.  Bad ratings for any soap is not good.  I think it brings all the soaps down.  I spent some time watching daytime tv.  If they take soaps off the air, it will be a big loss to the networks.  I watched some judge shows and that was about it.  I am not fond of the talk shows so much, maybe once every now and then.  I know soaps get the bad rap, but how is daytime doing in general, not just soaps?  Sometimes I come in to my computer and play games rather than watch anything on tv.  Unless I am watching my soap because I want to see a particular actor, I can read the daily reports and know what is going on, then delete my recordings.  It happens a lot.

I watched for about 10 minutes on Friday.  Thought the lighting was somewhat better in the indoor scenes but I've never seen such a miserable looking group of characters/actors.  I felt so bad for them. It was nice to see Reva's face though!

Several of the soaps went up in the ratings this week but GL continues to plunge :(
