Topic: Just started watching again...I can't believe it...

Okay, I've watched this show for years and in those years I've taken many breaks from the show, but would always come back. Last Friday, I had the TV on around 3 o'clock and I figured I would check in on Guiding Light to see what was happening...

I was horrified. This new camera technique thing looks very cheap and is just awful on the eyes. It looks like something they would produce for a college film class, strictly for amateurs. Seriously wtf? And I don't even know where to begin with the music they're playing over some of the scenes. It too sounds awful and isn't pleasant and sounds second rate at best.

Besides all of this, I won't even go into how boring the show seemed. Nothing was happening and nothing looks like it's going to happen on the show in the near future. Isn't this May? Isn't this the time when stories are supposed to climax and be really smokin' hot? All I saw was a bunch of characters going through the motions and the actors seemed so tired or something, maybe that was just my imagination.

I've always tried to be positive about this show and there have been many things I have liked over the years and many things I didn't like, but this is the first time that I can honestly say I hated everything about the show and this is also the first time that I've come to realization that it looks like someone is trying to "kill" the show. Again, wtf?

I can't believe they're destroying what was once a great daytime soap! It's the granddaddy of them all and now look at it! It's so sad!

Well... was an avid watcher years and years ago.  Missed the whole Reva clone stopped watching a little before that disaster (I read about it).  I do check it out every now and then, last time I check it - Dinah was plotting something with some guy in a barn....  Thought I would check it out today and what do I see Mallet and Marina -- that is just gross!!!

Agree about the camera -- does not seem like I will stick around!!!

Yeah, I'm going to keep watching it...if I can...it's really hard to watch right now though and I don't want to turn into one of these 'I'm not watching' people and then keep trashing the show...I will give it time to get better and I hope like hell it does! eom (Star)

Star: Many of us who used to be avid watchers are frustrated & we see so much wasted potential! It isn't 'trash' to give constructive criticism. They've got a great cast & should be utilizing them SO much better than they have been! All the characters, particularly the vets, are shadows of their original selves. Even the least interesting, newer characters have the potential (for the most part) to be interesting, complex characters w/a lot of stories to tell. But we aren't going to see it as long as they are opting for cheap, cheezy, weak, one dimential stories & characters. The BEST they can do is offer us a 'movie' about Reva's life? I don't believe that is the best the writers, producers & actors have to offer, but they aren't left to their own devices & it shows. eom

Been doing okay...and yeah it's been awhile...good to see some familiar names still here. I hope the show gets better, it really bums me out to see it in such terrible shape. eom (Star)
