Additional Comments: I am stunned..Remy said to Ava "nice wedding", I thought, what wedding? This new Dynasty, with all the money in town, has about 12 guests at the short(thank goodness) ceremony and then no huge fancy reception. We now know for sure that GL is in some kind of trouble when they can't even afford to put on one of the most basic Soap reason to have a "Party"? When was the last time you watched a show's Wedding SL and we didn't see the party? Where usually alot of stuff goes on.OLTL just had a corker recently. All the build-up and Di and Ollie's planning!! The Budget afforded only a fake BBQ and a Bounce House. So sad.

Honestly, I thought the wedding was decently done.  The way it was shot, the location shoot.  The way the guests were shot was done well.

Money?  It wasn't long ago that Billy had run Lewis Oil into the toilet.  Are they really rolling in millions already?

  • That's what we are suppose to believe, since Dina took over Spaulding with the Mansion and all, she has been saying they are the 'New Dynasty'. L.A.

ICAM about the pathetic turnouts for these events that once would have been HUGE, community gatherings, w/people putting aside their petty differences for a few hours.  It ranks right down there w/the deconstruction of the Bauer BBQ--a once great event that fans looked forward to.

  • Boy, our soap sure isn't what it used to be. The handwriting is on the wall I think.
  • But that 'handwriting' could/should change. If only Corp. would wake up to the wider appeal of soaps than they believe the genre has, they could again have some great entertainment out there & be drawing in a much bigger, broader viewership. But they are determined to prove that they are right & we are wrong. Or even worse, they don't CARE if they are right or wrong, just that they have the ability to pack up their toys & go home on a whim. Soaps could/should be doing great in the marketplace, as well as telling great stories. There IS potential, just narrowing opportunities. eom
  • I have attended the Soap Weekend in Orlando several times, and I can tell you litterally thousands of fans come. And those are the one's that can afford time and money, so there is a very loyal audience for these daytime shows.ABC seems to reconise that and make lot's of money promoting them.It must just be P&G, I don't know. L.A.
  • LA: There are LOTS of events that fans attend every year, some are done w/the owners, but most are produced by outside companies. ICAM, there is lots of $$ out there that fans are willing to spend on all things soap opera related. Several yrs ago, a fan paid (at auction) around $10,000 for a Susan Lucci/Erica Kane doll prototype. Just like in every other area of fandom, TPTB (Corp)--across the board--short change the audience of soaps in how they are perceived & marketed to. Fans pay $$ for cruises, fan events, gatherings, auctions, etc. that are soap opera related. Licensing of soap opera merchandise is BIG business for good reason. Soap fans are loyal & are willing to save/spend $$ on their hobby, much like sports fans do. Corp. fails to see that we are a very viable entity, for no good reason! As I've said for yrs, it makes no sense from a business standpoint. If I refused to open my doors of business & said that millions of potential customers weren't worth the time to open, I would be considered to be a lousy business person. But soap opera owners do that every day! eom
