Yep, my crappy luck as of late has gotten worse...
Emily and I were in a car accident Saturday. It was my fault. We drove down to my parents to go to the dance store for white tap shoes (nobody around here carries them). So I stopped to get gas, and decided to make a left, because for once the road wasn't busy. Nobody was coming except for a PT Cruiser, which I thought I cleared. Well, she switched lanes right when I pulled out, and I clipped her front end near the wheel. She was going pretty fast because the impact whipped my car around in the opposite direction and tore off my front end. We just paid our last payment on the car on Thursday.
The worst part of it was hearing Emily scream, and the sound of the cars hitting...it's not a sound I'll soon forget. She is totally and completely uninjured, since she was on the opposite side of the car. I however am very sore. I banged my head and my shoulder on the door. Luckily the airbags didn't deploy, or my glasses would be broken too.
All I can think about is that I could have killed someone, myself, or my daughter. I didn't sleep at all last night, and I don't think I will today. I also am scared about calling tomorrow to find out the fine, and trying to figure out how we're going to pay two insurance deductables, and know that my insurance is going to go up...I seriously think I'm going to have to get a job.
So far, 2008 is so totally not my year...

Well, now...you have to be a Pollyanna about this. Yes, you had an accident, but hey,
You didn't get hurt, everyone survived --- and that's GOOD. So maybe really, your luck is improving, huh?
I can identify with you. Last year after my husband had survived a brain hemorrhage and stroke, and brain surgery, I almost killed him pulling into the pharmacy parking lot. I, too, took a left turn across traffic. Two cars in the two lanes stopped and waved me on so I went--not knowing some EVIL person was sneaking up on the shoulder to get into a turn lane. She T-boned me at around 35 MPH. But she did have the right of way and I was at fault. I had to pay to repair my car, the car my car got shoved into AND her car. The whole bill...no deductibles or anything. I was afraid my insurance company was going to drop me, but they just raised my rates. I had been with them over over 35 years with no accidents.
But like I said, we were both fine (I was stiff for about a week because I braced when I saw the car coming). That's good luck, I say!
