Additional Comments: For years we have been so careful with this, but since our youngest is in second grade we haven't been too concerned about keeping the window blind cords wrapped up. Today we almost lost our little Molly dog! She got wrapped up in the cords (no doubt while jumping around) while I was at the store. Luckily Jon peeked in the window while working in the backyard and found her! She was limp, but as soon as he unwound her she sprang up in true Jack Russell fashion. She seems to be fine now.
It never occurred to me that animals could be harmed by these too, so keep them up and out of reach for your doggies and kitties... and your babies too!

Message: I cut all of mine when Molly started going upstairs. Ticked my mom off but I knew there was a risk and I wasn't going to take it! Glad your JRT is okay.

Message: Holy crow, DeeDee. Never even THOUGHT about dogs and the cords. In our Virginia house, I was very cognizant of "kid safety" when we decorated since the grandchildren will be around. Our blinds have no cords - they're the accordian type that raise and lower by pulling down or pushing up. But the blinds we have in our NC house DO have loops. Yikes. I'm going to try to see if I can tie them up differently...not that my 13 year old dog does much jumping, but you never know. If a cat ran across the yard, she might just do that.
