Topic: Tobias Truvillion (Vincent) is Out!

Additional Comments: According to Carolyn Hinsey's column this morning in the New York Daily News.  Anyone care to guess why?  And can the character of Layla be far behind?  Funny how somebody has to go when they bring a big-name character back (gotta find the money somewhere, right?).

Both Vincent and Miles have become so peripheral to the action that it's not surprising or particularly disheartening that they're leaving. However, I definitely want Layla to stay. The character and actress have lots of potential. If this means more airtime for R.J. because ABC would like to at least pay lip service to diversity, all the better. Don't get me wrong: R.J. should be front and center because TDS is a fantastic actor, but I do think it's important to have racial and ethnic and economic diversity on the soaps, especially this one. Respect Ms. Nixon's precious legacy!

  • This is really sad, isn't it? I'm sure, if I were a professional writer for OLTL, I could come up with some storyline to involve them. We still don't know Allison's secret, and I can visualize how Miles could be part of it. As for Vincent, it seems as if a character is created, and then it is changed so the character becomes boring. When Vincent was a wheeler dealer, he was interesting. eom/sea
  • Here here Rhonda!. Regarding Ms Nixon's legacy I couldn't have said it better myself..The Thinker

No surprise. I've been reading that rumor for months now. He really has no story and although I first liked him when he appeared, I can't see a reason for him now.  As far as Layla, I used to like her but recently she is just an annoying, nosy busybody with no other purpose but to gossip and couse trouble for her 'friends'.  I could care less if she goes. If they had brought Evangline back, then maybe she could have a more meaty role in the show, but as it is, she's useless.

Bye, dude.  I always thought TT was cute, but he really can't act.  Still, I thought exactly the same thing about Tika Sumpter (Layla) when she started, and she's improved tremendously.  I've watched a lot of soap newbies learn to act over the years, so I was willing to give TT some time and some slack.  But they never really used him or gave him an opportunity to learn and grow, and if that's going to continue, I'd rather see him out.  I hate it when they keep characters around for no apparent reason.

I didn't care one way or the other about Vincent.  I just hope this doesn't mean the end of Layla as well.  I love Layla and I want her to stay on the show.

  • Again, ladfan, I agree with you. I love Layla, but her connections are also quickly biting the dust. With Vincent gone and Adrianna leaving, let's hope there is something planned for her. eom/sea

Not surprising.  TT isn't a good actor and he's black so he'd be one of the firsts to go.  They won't let go of Layla because they need to keep a black girl in place of Evangeline.  She's not as popular as Evangeline but since most are still mad over REG being allowed to go, they won't chance it with the other black character.  They'll keep TS as the token and I guarantee she won't ever get a story.  She'll be the mouthpiece for everyone else.  That was their intention for Evangeline but she crossed over.

    ABC is nothing but predictable.

  • '...he's not a very good actor and he's black...' Isn't the fact that he isn't a very good actor reason enough to let him go? Why does it always have to be about race. I doubt you watch All My Children, which, by the way, is also on ABC, but right now a center storyline revolves around a black family, and several peripheral storylines as well. As far as black actors on OLTL, I don't give a rat's behind about Evangeline; I do miss RJ. eom/sea
  • Newsflash: I never gave a rat's ass about Vincent, I never saw the point for him when he was RJ like. I do care about Evangeline, Layla and RJ. It comes down to race because ABC treats their black actors/characters as less important than their white ones. They get away with it because people excuse it. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Timothy Stickney is a damn good actor and he won't ever get the airtime ME or TSJ get, why? It took people bitching constantly about the lack of diversity for ABC to even consider the Jessie and Angie story. Let's all pretend that race doesn't factor in. It's raining Skittles and there's a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow too.
  • Sea you are a rude idiot. Lorie point was that when you are AA AND a bad actor you are cut faster than a bad white actor. Learn to read and comprehend. Who cares if you don't like Evangeline, let me guess you love that old nasty bitch Blair and tnb right? Too bad Roger didn't and had to run away to get away from that garbage. Thanks to Kassie being ahem *very good friends* with BF we lost RH.
  • That wasn't necessary Lisa.
