Topic: Are many teens really as dumb as Cole? (spoiler)

Additional Comments: It was very obvious that Starr and Cole didn't use any protection when they had sex, and yet Cole has never even considered the possibility that Starr could be pregnant. Then when it seems like he's about to get a clue, he jumps to the conclusion that Starr has run away instead of thinking hey, maybe Starr is pregnant. He doesn't get it until finally he sees that right to choose sign. Does Cole even know what having sex means? I thought teens today are more savvy about sex, but Cole and Starr are about as dumb as they come. The thought of those two as parents is scary.

Message: Frankly, I don't think any single-celled life form is as dumb as Cole! Speaking of dumb, why did Langston give Cole the address to the clinic yet fail to divulge the details? I hate, hate, hate this storyline. It's so wrong-headed and irresponsible. How many times has this scenario played out on soaps: troubled heroine gets pregnant, feels she cannot confide in the baby's father, plans an abortion only to have Galahad storm into the clinic and save the day. I'm sure there are some loving and responsible teen dads, but, come on, the scenario that played out in Fast Times at Ridgemont High is the cold reality for most teenage girls faced with an unwanted pregnancy, not this gloried Romeo and Juliet BS soaps are pushing.
Just another example of the dumbed down, stereotypical teens. Not all teens have irresponsible sex (not using protection). Using protection isn't a guarantee against pregnancy either. Even w/doctors tell someone they are infertile it isn't a guarantee that they can't/won't get pregnant. Mature people use protection & still, accidents happen.
I'm not sure I mentioned this before, but I hate Cole. He has always seemed dull to me. I don't know if Starr is acting like we would like her to act or not, but I really believe she is afraid of Todd for Cole--not for herself.
Do you, or anyone else, know how many people know that Cole shot Miles? Maybe they are going to do another current topic and make Cole's anger get the best of him and he will blow up the school. He is definitely out of control.

Message: To me, Starr is being written as a 16-year-old. She got caught up in the moment with Cole, got pregnant, agonized over what to do, and is doing it. Cole, on the other hand, is written as a moron and portrayed, at least in scenes with Starr, as a dullard. He's supposed to be oh, so in love with Starr, but he doesn't seem to have a clue about what her thought processes are. For that, I blame the writing. Even Starr, although acting like a 16-year-old, hasn't acted like 16-year-old Starr Manning should. That kid would be more than a match for Todd. Unfortunately, she's been lobotomized and paired with someone who should be her equal as the son of Marty and Patrick, but sadly, isn't.
