Over 45% is thrown away without reading. Direct mail experts say they have less than 2 seconds to get a person curious enough to even open the envelope.

I'll go with 90%. I often check out ones that just have return addresses as a lot of date updated credit cards are sent that way.

For Wyatt, and anyone else desiring to get off mailing lists.

Direct Marketing Association

Other things you can do - if you get an unsolicited catalog, call them using their 800 number and request to be removed from their database. Takes about 3 months, but this does work. Many places that you order from provide a check box to indicate if you want your name shared. I always check this box.

I also found this place recently, Catalog Choice. I've used it a few times - and it does work.

I can only answer for our house, and that would be 99%. Actually, once we put our name and address on the Do-Not-Mail list, the amount of junk we receive has greatly decreased. Same thing for phone solicitations - with the disgusting exception of political crank calls!
