The surgeon called at 2:15 EST. They ran into a problem with the CT. Tiffy's blood pressure dropped and they couldn't complete the scan using dye. So the surgery has now begun with an incomplete CT. The surgeon feels that if the mass has intruded into her Vena Cava that he can re-section the vessel after removing the adrenal tissue. Once again, he said that this mass on her Adrenal gland is huge.
He hopes to find no surprises when he gets in there due to lack of CT contrast. The anesthesiologist will be very busy trying to keep her BP in a safe range with her low potassium. We don't want heart failure. She will probably need a transfusion(s). I'm praying for the surgeon and anesthesiologist!!!!
The surgery is now scheduled to last 2 hours and we are way behind due to the CT problem. It's going to continue to be a long day.
Tiffy must have had a strong desire to live to have survived to this point with such a huge mass. How frightened she must have felt at times. Dr Holt said, ''I will do my best for her....you have my word. Hopefully, I will have good news for you later today.''

Thank you~

I'm glad everything is working out for you and Tiffy. Prayers continue to go out to you and yours. :-)
Happy, happy, happy!!! I'm jumping for joy! Everyone here helped! We have to continue for her post surgery. All good thoughts and prayers still going that way! (((((HUGS to Tiffy, you and family))))) AND to the doctors!!
I imagine Tiffy is out of surgery by now. I hope it went okay! Let us know when you can.
Tiffy came out of surgery around 5:00 EST and the surgery went smoothly. She's in ICU, she's been given an epidural for pain, and they are going to wake her up now. The tumor did NOT invade the Vena Cava so no surgery was needed there and no blood transfusions. I am so happy about that!!!
Her electrolytes are the critical concern now and she will be monitored closely. The surgeon is hopeful that she will have an uneventful recovery. Hopefully her paralysis will clear up along with her many other 'odd' symptoms. After 2 1/2 years, we look forward to getting our happy, healthy Tiffy back. Time will tell if this huge mass has been the major cause of all her problems.
I'm worn out but feeling much more hopeful at this point. I'll post my rant about the majority of vets at a later date. Like ''people doctors'', there are too many incompetent vets practicing medicine. I am most thankful to the team at The University of PA Vet Hospital in Phila. Finally, people who can make a diagnosis!!!
Many thanks to those who prayed and sent good thoughts for Tiffy and me. Your continued prayers are still needed for a complete recovery. We should be out of the woods in a few days. The surgeon told me that she is ONE RESILIENT CAT. She fooled everyone!!! :)
