Additional Comments: No more parents dirty looks! I am finished work for the summer. YEE HAW! Man, has it been a LONG year. I am not sure why but it has just been crazy. We had more kids with discipline problems than I have seen in my 4 years as OA. BUT I still luv, luv, luv my job! It is nice to have a break and be able to come play for a few months tho.

Just a brief update...I did not win the Director's Citation award, however, my boss and the other three people that nominated me took me out for a really nice supper. As I said in my earlier post, the nomination meant the world to me, and the words that were put on paper meant more than the award would have. And just this past week, I was truly honoured to receive a special award created just for me and presented to me at a ceremony at the school. The award is pure crystal and is beautiful. I was truly touched.

My Aunt's 60th birthday has finally come and gone and I was able to pull off the whole Elvis surprise. And yes there are pics to prove it or blackmail me with whichever you choose lol.

For the country music lovers on here...I have went to a few concerts over the last little while, John Berry and Martina McBride (pics to come) BUT BUT BUT, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited because the best is yet to come. Finally, after what seems like a catrillion years, RANDY TRAVIS IS COMING TO OTTAWA. On September 13th, I am going to be so close to my favourite performer that I think I am just gonna pass out!

Deanna, Madison and Jessy are growing like weeds. I cannot believe how fast time seems to go now. Deanna will turn 10 this September, Madison will turn 6 in August and Jessy turned 4 this past January. They are all doing very well. Jessy has been diagnosed as mildly autistic with a language delay, however, we have noticed that his speech has come a long way in the past year. I just pray it continues to develop.

Justin, my baby, turns 22 today. I shudder at the thought. He finally seems to be getting past his anxiety attacks and is supposed to start work at The Source at the beginning of August. Travis is also doing well, he is still playing guitar (I really think he may just turn it into a career) and he is still working at Subway full time. They are both still very good boys. I know they are men now, but they will always be boys to me.

I am now anticipating a week at a cottage. Myself, the maytag man, my boys, my nieces, my sil, my brother, and my cousin leave for the cottage on July 19th. The only sad part of it all is that due to the astronomical prices of gas and the cost/rigmarol of obtaining passports Cinna can't join me this year :( but I will be thinking of and missing her everyday.

I think that about brings me up to date with my life. How is everyone here doing? I am asking that everyone reply and tell me one exciting thing that has happened to you since we last spoke? I miss playing with you guys so much and am very glad that summer is finally here!

I got an account at Flikr and have uploaded several pictures for those interested. Just click on this link:

Take care all. I will be back tomorrow. (YAY it feels good to be able to say that!)

So glad that you and your family are doing so well.  I know you're ready for vacation and I hope you have a blast.  You should, because you're a very fun person and I bet a treat to be around.  It's too bad you didn't win the first award, but I'm betting the second award is much nicer, because it's really from the hearts of your co-workers.  You're right, just being considered because someone that you work with takes the time to nominate you is wonderful.  The costume is awesome, which all yours are.  Have a great summer!

  • Bigmama) Thanks Jenny for all your accolades. You are right, the second award meant the world to me. You enjoy your summer as well.

Hi! It is good to see your name here. I've been a little bit scarce lately too. Life has just gotten in the way of my computer time.

Good news, you want good news. Let's see................I won tickets to go see Toby Keith in concert on July 10th! The tickets came in the mail yesterday!!!! I'm not a big Toby fan, would of rather won tickets to go see Tim McGraw (and trust me, I tried) but SO likes Toby, so he is pretty excited to go.

And, SO and I booked a cruise for the middle of Sept. So that is somethng else we are excited for! Will be our first time going on a cruise and a cruise is something I have always wanted to do.

I hope you have a good vacation. I am off to go check out your pics now!

Stopping in to say "Hi". I enjoyed the pictures and loved the costume. Great job!

Have a marvelous time on vacation. I know you will, your get-aways always sound fun to me.
Psst, if gas comes down, cinna could visit without the passport. She'd need to carry her photo ID and her certified birth certificate.
At least that's what I was reading 2 months ago on the passport website. Not that anyone really wants to carry around their birth certificate but it's an option on land travel.

  • Bigmama) Thanks JoEllen We were pretty sure that after January of this year you had to have a passport to come into Canada? I am going to check that out
  • Here's the info inside so you don't have to go searching.....
  • Bigmama) Thanks JoEllen, I will be sure to pass that info to CInna just in case she doesn't get a chance to read it here.
  • You're welcome. I hope you'll be able to get together this summer. /JoEllen

So, who is Randy Travis? JUST KIDDING. You must be beyond excited you'll be seeing him in concert...upclose and personal!

This is my favorite time of year...lots of playing in the gardens and feeding the fish in the water garden. I truly love being out there creating and playing photographer.

We recently took a small trip...amazing what one can find pretty close to home. We traveled in  southwest Illinois, dipped down into Paducah, KY, then back up southeast Missouri. It was mostly a nature trip...lots of time spent walking...exhausting, but relaxing. Of course, we will be visiting family out of town sometime this summer. We wont' be taking a work related vacation this year...Jeff's work conference is in our city this year. Darn.

Hope you'll have a great time at the cabin...I know you will. I imagine you create fun wherever you go and whatever you do!

I still have to go look at your Elvis pics.

  • Bigmama) I am not an outdoorsy person but I love looking at what others create outdoors lol. Just an fyi, there are other pics besides the Elvis ones

OMG on Deanna being TEN!    How did that happen?    Loved seeing your Elvis pics.   You have an absolute knack at making costumes.   But then I guess you know that.    :-D     Glad you're going to get to spend a little time around here this summer.    Sorry cinna won't be able to join you all at the cabin.    I know you'll miss her.    Where is she anyway?    Scarce around here for sure!

I can't think of anything too exciting.    We've been having a good time living near family and haven't done much traveling in two years.    Just short trips.   We are planning to go to Branson, MO (probably in late August or maybe September would be better.)    We'll stay three nights and four days and see some shows, shop, etc.    Then in October we are flying to MD to visit my sister.   We haven't been to her house in several years because she can fly free and does 3-4 times a year.   But she wanted us to come there so we are.   My nephew can get us buddy passes making the trip fairly inexpensive.   Although NOTHING is inexpensive here these days!!

  • Bigmama) I know on the 10 thing, it is still amazing to me. She is a little young lady now. Have fun in Branson!
  • Bigmama) P.S. I think Cinna is keeping busy with her brand new state of the art embroidery machine. We don't get online together at all anymore, however, we still keep in contact via phone when one of us is missing each other.
  • Well, I guess you have both just gotten too busy for usuns. :-( Btw, I'm excited for you getting to see Mr. Randy! I know he's your absolute fav. Gail
  • Bigmama) Thanks Gail. My family and friends are all laughing at just how excited I am lol. I find it just so hard after putting a full day to come home and go on puter. But I will play all summer!
