Nothing big. You can tell things are winding down. I have a few things left over from last week. For any Jason fans, I have a few things about him with some interviews he did and how he feels about leaving Idol. Contrary to what has been written about him wanting to go home, apparently that wasn't true.
I have a few statements from David A. supporting his father and an update on Jeff being banned from the reheasal hall. It is being called a "Fairness Issue".
I also have something on the songwriting contest and Simon's feelings on the songs. There is a list of Idol appearances for those that have asked me what certain former Idols are doing, and I have an update on the song selections the contestants might possibly be singing. When I have a confirmed song list, usually anywhere from one to two hours before showtime, I will post it here. Just check back.

Sorry, I didn't these on sooner. I was gone. This is the opinions of the person connected with the site where this was who saw the dress rehearsal and the performance order:
Final 3 - Performance Order and Complete Spoiler list
http://mjsbigblog.com/final-3-performance-order-and-complete-spoiler-list.htm
Here is the performance order for tonight:
ETA: Caffiend is back from rehearsal. She said things went well, but that everyone, including Debbie the stage manager seemed very tense. All three seem to be in this to win. Caffiend thought that Syesha Mercado and David Cook sounded a little off-pitch tonight. Overall, The Davids had the most memorable performances. Syesha “Broadwayed” her way through all three numbers. There wasn’t a point where she really connected to what she was singing. She’s definitely gone all glam. Lots of sequins tonight.
1. David Archuleta
2. Syesha Mercado
3. David Cook
1. Judges Choice 2. Kids Choice 3. Producers Choice.
* David Archuleta - Paula Abdul chose: “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel - Beautiful, best of the 3 songs he did. It was a capella for half the song. he was wearing a tie and leather jacket.
* Syesha Mercado - Randy Jackson chose: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys - She wore a sequiny gold gown.
* David Cook - Simon Cowell chose: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack - He changed it up - made it a little rocky - almost unrecognizable.
* David Archuleta - David chose: “With You” by Chris Brown - Audience loved it. Lots of interaction with the audience.
* Syesha Mercado -Syesha chose: “Fever” by Peggy Lee - She wore a very short sequined mini-dress and sung it very suggestively.
* David Cook - David chose: “The World I Know” by Collective Soul “Dare You to Move” by Switchfoot - He played guitar. He explained that he wanted to do something upbeat.
* David Archuleta - The producers chose: “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg - injected some runs - but still good.
* Syesha Mercado - The producers chose: “Hit Me Up” by Gia Farrell - Syesha’s performances were the least memorable of the night.
* David Cook - The producers chose: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. Strings and violins on this one.

The Final 3 - What Should the Idols Sing? - Spoilers Included!
http://mjsbigblog.com/the-final-3-what-should-the-idols-sing-spoilers-included.htm
"Actually, it’s a moot question at this point. We already know half the songs the Idols are singing–there is only a little room for speculation.
Here’s how it works: The Final 3 sing 3 songs apiece. Each Idol is assigned a judge who picks a song. The Idol picks a song and The producers pick a song. The Idols have no control over two-thirds of the song choices. It’s a process that allows TPTB to control the outcome. Want to throw an Idol under the bus? Make them sing the dour “Vincent” (Clay Aiken, S2) and then change the arrangement at the last minute! It’s a veritable minefield for the remaining Idols."
Here is what we have so far:
David Cook
* Simon Cowell chose: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack
Syesha Mercado
* Randy Jackson chose: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
David Archuleta
* Paula Abdul chose: “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel
* David chose: “The World I Know” by Collective Soul
* The producers chose: undetermined
* Syesha Chose: undetermined
* The producers chose: undetermined
* David chose: undetermined
* The producers chose: “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg (this is a brand-new spoiler)
David Archuleta - More on Papagate

Rickey covered the story this morning–David Archuleta’s vocal coach, Dean Kaelin, ran interference for the family on the CBS Early Show Monday morning. It's a "Fairness Issue". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TV Guide covers the Final 3
http://mjsbigblog.com/tv-guide-covers-the-final-3.htm
Below is an excerpt from Page 5.
David Archuleta defends his stage dad Jeff, “I’ve heard some of the weird things that people have been saying, and it’s kind of a bummer…I think I, of all people, would know what’s going on, and he’s been great. He’s given me a lot of good advice and helped me from making any dumb decisions. He understands more than anyone what I want in music, and I’ve felt really blessed to have to have someone like that.”

There are four videos. If you don't care to hear them all or even any, at least take a listen to the Jason Castro Pt 3 with Debra Byrd: It is very interesting to hear what she has to say on how all the contestants work with the coaches and any influence they have in the songs and arrangements.

Jason Castro Exit Interviews
http://mjsbigblog.com/jason-castro-exit-interviews.htm
Jason Castro did NOT forget his words on purpose Tuesday night..... Jason insists he never threw in the towel–he always tried his best, he says. ... Next week, for his personal song choice, he was deciding between “Blue Eyes” by the Carey Brothers and “Green Eyes” by Coldplay.
"I think what it came down to was my inexperience. Once we doubled up on songs, I wasn’t able to focus on both of my songs. My mind was just split."

Simon Cowell ... mocks ‘American Idol’ songwriting competition
Cowell did not hide his feelings about the Idol songwriting competition, which last year yielded the oft-mocked “This Is My Now” for winner Jordin Sparks. “I have nothing to do with it — I’d like to bring in the best songwriters in the world,” said Cowell, who joked, “You can guarantee either the word ‘proud’ or ‘moment’ will be in the song. How about ‘I’m Proud to Be in this Moment Now’?” When asked if the final two will get to change up the Iarrangement to better suit their vocal styles, Cowell hinted at a glimmer of hope: “I won’t give it away, but there’s a slight change to last year which is going to be an improvement.”

Michael Slezak: So Adam, it's the final day of voting for the American Idol Songwriting competition,. You ready to dive into the land of "I Believe This Is My Moment Like This Inside Your Now"? (Ew.)
Adam B. Vary: Yes. And thank you for diving with me -- last year I think I was the only one on staff to listen to (and rate) all 20 songs in the Idol competition, and while I correctly predicted that "This Is My Now" was the only song that was even near "good" enough to win, it nearly killed me.

Brainstorming newer, fresher ‘Idol’ theme nights
I know, I know, I write a googillion words a week about American Idol — and I’ve already referenced an unfunny Ben Stiller “Idol Gives Back” joke in the first sentence of this blog item! — but all the recent press about the show slipping in the advertiser-craved 18-34 demographic, and now having a median viewer age of (le gasp!) 42, got me thinking.
As Idolatry viewer Lee Chesnut from Barnard, Vt., griped in a recent e-mail titled “Oldies Idol,” the show has been bizarrely reluctant to allow season 7 contestants to sing contemporary songs. “Neil Diamond Week, Andrew Lloyd Weber Week, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Week, Dolly Parton Week, Beatles Week (twice!), ’60s Week, ’70s Week, ’80s Week…. I mean it’s almost cruel to imagine this season’s winner being turned loose to compete in the ‘real world’,” Lee writes, before hitting the all-caps button. “WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY FAVORITE SHOW??”
