Topic: Dancing With The Stars - Season Six Finale

First we go into this finale with six very deserving and extremely nice people - Kristi/Mark, Jason/Edyta and Cristian/Cheryl. Add to that, for me, that Mario and Marissa the last two eliminated were just as likeable and deserving but all must go but one. My favorite season so far.

That said...TWO HOURS??? For what??? At around 9:25 I wondered if I was the ONLY person still watching (lol). I literally am condensing this a bit because, LIKE THE SHOW, a long recap is not needed.

Samantha looks gorgeous and it's always wonderful to see Tom. Forgot my fav quip of his from last night. After Samantha asked Jason a question then cut him off TWICE Tom said interview Haiku!! I'll miss Mr. Bergeron.

JASON says (re:competing w/Kristi) I feel like I'm going the wrong way on the highway and an accident waiting to happen. He feels he has given everything he can.
CRISTIAN is exhausted and says what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
KRISTI is proud of what she and Mark have done.

USHER: from his album - Here I Stand. So cool, so sexy and so so so WOOF!! I love him. He is the go to guy for Hip Hop, fabulous.

As we go to commercial we see Jason and Cristian both kiss Kristi on the cheek(s). Just call it a three way tie and give them all a trophy.

Past stars weigh in with their guesses. We see: Drew, Joey, Jerry, Fatone, Vivica, Lisa and Harry, Leeza, Wayne, Sutter and Mark.

Our Two Finalist: Kristi/Mark and Jason/Edyta

Eliminated: Cristian/Cheryl. I'm a little shocked but Jason WAS the front runner for weeks until he faltered a bit recently. I'm sad. Tom tells Cristian he thought he was nuts to continue after injury but now thinks he's amazing. Cristian thanks Cheryl and says she's not only his partner but gave great support, never gave up and made him a better dancer. She says she is so proud and they went through it together.

Cristian & Cheryl: PASO DOBLE. Wonderful...standing ovation.

RECAPS OF THE SEASON

ARE you still watching? This is where I condense. I would have loved it if all contestants returned and each did 30 seconds (or so) of a dance but EACH get to repeat their best? All that did was remind us of WHY they were voted off WHEN they were. Yes we saw them all. Some just as bad (Monica, Penn, Adam) and others should never be near a mic. Steve Guttenberg made my teeth rot with more of his schmaltz. Adam's God Bless DWTS and God Bless America - too much but it was amusing.

JUNIOR CHAMPS: Brandon and Brittany. No surprise BUT the trophy is given to them by Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. Sure that was Brandon's wish but what about Brittany? (lol).

More contestants. Priscilla (snore), Marlee did just fine, Shannon and Derek - still mad at them no matter what they do. Mario and Karina are still HOT and Marissa hasn't been gone long enough to miss her.

We see clips of JASON and CRISTIAN's friendship that Cheryl calls a BROmance - love that.

Drew, Kelly and Helio are interviewed. nothing great is said.

Kristi and Jason talk about each other and it's a mutual admiration society moment. Both are deserving.

USHER: some tricky moves. He blends and melds differing styles like no one else in any genre. Jazzy fun.

The ROCKY Theme is played while Kristi and Jason walk the floor with their partners. Sure they need to FILL THE NOT NEEDED TWO HOURS.

Kristi & Mark: JIVE - Rip It Up
A+ as before. NOW this is ODD. This is a repeat YET they are critiqued and scored. Huh?
Len: best of any season. 10
Bruno: great achievement from a great achiever. 10
Carrie: as a team you kept the standard from day one. 10
TOTAL: 30 and a perfect 90 for the finals

Jason & Edyta: QUICK STEP - Dirty Boogie
Pow - energy - giving it his (last) all. Such a gentle...man!!
Bruno heavenly bodies - more like angels. best to date. 10
Carrie: fantastic - a force of nature - elegance of spirit. 10
Len: Kristi is the judges' champ but you are the people's champ. 10
TOTAL: 30 (and Jason says hey Kristi it does feel good) an 81 of 90 for the finals.

Kristi is the highest scorer EVER with the judges.

Jason impressed and blew the judges away.

Kristi says this is the icing on the cake and thanks everyone from cameramen to make-up as does Mark (who is beside himself with glee).

Jason says Kristi is so deserving and he thanks everyone as well and says he had the time of his life.

Jason and Cristian LIFT Kristi and carry her on their shoulders to her parents as Derek Hough lifts Mark.

Great season even if they get too heavy with wasting our time on results and finale shows.

I know you ''woof woof'' USHER but he doesn't do it for me. I didn't care for the first number BUT LOVED his second endeavor of the evening. WOOF from me!!!!!

I was sorry to see Cristian eliminated.....my preference would have been Jason but at least this is a happy show!!! Cristian was HOT on those Latin numbers and worked with such obstacles. I would have preferred to see him rewarded. Oh well..........

Like you, I could have done without all the dancing repeats from the season. Snippets would have been fine. I thought of you when Steve G came out to dance. He's so sugary!!! (LOL)

The Juniors were no surprise. Those two deserved their trophy. What amazing dancers!!! WOW!!!

Kristi's Jive was marvelous, of course. That girl is amazing. Jason's Quick Step was fun and enjoyable to watch. I must add that I loved Cristian's Paso Doble. I thought it was marvelous and preferred it to Jason's Quick Step. However, ALL were so good this season.

I can't believe that they're bringing it back in September. Did I hear that correctly?? I'll join SYTYCD later in the game.

Thanks for all the excellent recaps, W.E. and Bravo for sticking through this one. I think I'll be faced with the same dilemma on AI tonight. My mood will determine how much detail *I* decide to include.

I agree - thank goodness for TOM!! (The house of, lol) Usher does do it for me but I agree - song #2 had it all over #1.I'd seen the dance section on SNL and was waiting for it. I felt bad for both Cristian and Jason but both knew she would win and were most gracious to her. Sugary - every word Steve said was rotting my TEETH!! Those teens were top notch - if this show stays on the air we'll see them as pros in a few years. I liked all three freestyles but as Carrie said you could tell who was the best although J&C pulled out all the stops they had and then some. Bravo to the guys. DWTS is always on twice a year and usually ends in November so starting in September is the norm. It was a fun year for DWTS - hope they do as well with their picks (and the voters keep in line) for season 7. On to SYTYCD - yep it's been a blast. Thank you!!eom/WE

Very happy with the winner - MARK! LOL! He and Kristi deserved it! HE was happier that SHE was. Soooo cute.

I was surprised Jason made it to number 2, but that's ok.

Two hours!!!!! Ugh!!! Just way way too much.  At the very least, they should have done another Dance Center.  This should have and could have been just one hour.

Usher is generally not the type of music I listen to, but I loved his first song.  That song is on the radio all the time and he can move!  Very impressive.

I was surprised to see Christian and Cheryl go first.  I thought for sure they would beat Jason and Edyta. 

I FF'd through most of this because I just can't sit through it.  The Bromance thing was funny.  I definitely didn't need to see some of the dancers come back and do an entire dance.  Didn't they just do about 30 seconds in past finale's?

I am so happy that Kristi won.  Hands down, she deserved it.  She was absolutely the best dancer there and met every challenge.  Jason was an absolute gentelman about it too.  Very different from Maks and Mel feeling that they were robbed last season.

I think this was my favorite season as well.  I'll be ready to watch again in September.

W.E. : Thanks so much for your fantasic recaps every week.  Even though I watched every week, I always looked forward to yours and everyones perspective.  More than once I went back to see something on my Tivo that other people caught and I missed.  The time you put into the recaps is most appreciated!

Yep Dance Center would have been welcome. I'm not into rappers but I AM into Usher. I thought C&C would be second too BUT Jason was in front until the last two weeks so he is deserving as much. Cristian looked so sad. All three (and really the top FIVE) were gracious. That's why it was wonderful to tune in week to week. It was and is my pleasure and these discussions are FUN so thank you TOO. eom/WE

Have any of you ever gone over to abc.com and read some of the entrys on the DWTS messageboard? Some of those people really need to get a life! Kristi winning most certainly is not the end of the world as we know it.

I did the first season and knew I never would again (lol). There's no arguing or convincing and they can be brutal. The first season (Kelly vs. John?) they wewre horrid. eom/WE

Season Six ...the best yet!

Frankly, the Results Show is always too long....it could all be done in 30 minutes (or less). I wish ABC would produce another "ratings grabbing" show then we wouldn't have to watch all the RS filler.

I loved Usher, especially the second number. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders was a nice touch, but what about Brittany? I did enjoy the Junior dancers this season and would like to see it again next season.

I'd rather see a group dance with the "voted off" season dancers....one number and it's over, yet we get to see the whole season cast.

The top three dancers were so much fun and exemplified caring for the other guy/gal....great group of people. And, in that respect they were all winners. BUT......

Kristi takes home the ugly disco ball!! She came on strong, took the judges critiques to the dance studio and let her dancing grow. She was indeed deserving of the win!

My fav season too. I wish there was a ratings device to show TPTB that most folks won't watch two hours of filler and only tune in for the ending or FF through it. Usher was hot and I LOL when those cheerleaders came out. I'd like to see the juniors again as well. Oh yeah - the best top three to date!! Kristi really is a champ. I scanned most of the show, because it really was a bit much. DWTS always had such great result shows, but this wasn't one of them. No surprise that Kristi won. Was it just Samantha's hair, or did she look anorexic tonight? When did she have her baby?

I agree. We did not need to see whole dances of the former contestants - it was just a time waster. Samantha had her baby as this season started so that's approximately ten weeks ago. I read somewhere where a doctor said getting her body back as quickly as she did was not good for her or the baby. eom/WE

Samantha had her baby at the start of last season, not this season. I didn't think she looked anorexic, but she is in amazing shape. Her upper body is very buff. And her gown last night was just beautiful.

Ah all the seasons are blurring together. I checked at the IMDb and her baby was born last September. As far as her determination here's a quote from her page: She is a three-time cover girl for the women's fitness magazine, Muscle & Fitness Hers. She has also been featured in Maxim, Shape and Self magazines. She is a great beauty.eom/WE

I know what you mean. My husband asked me last night why Marie Osmond wasn't dancing. He thought she was on this season. They do all blur together!

So were the 2 seasons closer together than they usually are? I'm so confused. LOL. Her face just looked super skinny to me last night, but it might have been because her hair was different...Blinkie

No Blinkie - one season starts in September and ends in November then in Spring we have the second. I just got confused when the baby was born and couldn't remember it was last season thet Drew stepped in for a few weeks in replacement.eom/WE

We enjoyed the show, even though it was 2 hours. Adam Corolla nearly knocked us on the floor with his line gay, straight or Guttenberg.

Now I can concentrate on the Stanley Cup!!
