Have you been following the Eric McLean case?

What do you think? He strikes me as the most pathetic young man. I think he was victimized. Too bad they didn't bring someone in to discuss the battered husband syndrome.

I wouldn't have believed this two weeks ago, but I hope the jury finds it was an accident.

  • the verdict,,,
  • Did I hear correctly when they said he would pull 2-4 years? I wish there would be a way to now prosecute the wife.......she clearly caused all of this. At least he got reckless homicide and not something worse.......bless his heart......it is amazing to me how these things escalate out of control and then something like this happens! Thanks for updating the verdict on here.....have a wonderful day! ~A&A's Mom
  • Earlier today they said he could get probation. If he gets prison time, it could be cut 30% for good behavior. What time zone are you in? I'm in the east. Oh. Sentencing will be Nov. 7. He's out til then. (CC)
  • Oh, well, I suppose that makes sense. I don't think he deserves any time, really IMO. I think what she did to him should be 'time served'.....well, maybe not really but you get the idea of how I feel about the whole situation. I am in the east too.....Virginia......~A&A's Mom

It is surely a sad thing.  I think his wife needs to be prosecuted as well.  It was surely a fit of rage and if there ever was a temporarily insanity defense, this is the case that defense represents.  However, he took the life of a human being--a young man whose family mourns the loss of him as well.  Nobody wins.

CC -- I am in Texas near Houston...while not being evacuated, when Ike hits Saturday I will most likely be without power.  They are saying could be two wks without :(*.  I have family coming in tonight from the coast and getting stuff ready.  Please keep up on OJ trial (lol) and when I get back to a computer, I'll catch up on all the good stuff with you.

    Yogi out!

I think he was victimized too.  I also think that the wife was a very selfish and manipulative person.  I mean really, they went to the park with her 2 kids and were holding hands and stuff?  How stupid......in front of 7 & 11 yr old sons??  Come on!  And all the phone calls?  I mean, if she was having an affair, it doesn't sound like she was trying to hide it very well......I feel sorry for Eric.......

  • And I know this question wasn't for me CC - but I just had to post my opinion.......:) Have a nice day! ~A&A's Mom
  • oh! I didn't know you were watching. And how about him finding them in their bed. I wish she had testified. It would have been a nightmare for her. I think she is ultimately responsible, although he did shoot the gun. (CC)
  • Could you even imagine how she would have been during her testimony?? I would have LOVED for her to have! I'm with you, yes he did shoot him but......he was provoked on so many different levels! I just feel so sorry for him! ~A&A's Mom
  • Yes. he was pathetic. I hope there is a verdict tomorrow. I might check online now to see if anything is happening. I'll get back to you when/if it does, Oh. I don't think she could have survived the direct questionning, forget the cross! (CC)
