Additional Comments: I missed Melrose Place on tv so decided to watch it on You Tube. Thought I could see the whole thing. Well, they had Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 ...searched everywhere for part 5. It's nowhere to be found. Tried going to cwtv.com and it won't work. Then tried some of these other sites but you have to fill out surveys then there was something about a credit card purchase you had to make so I backed out. Anyway, just wondered how it ended. Loved seeing Jo again..she was a lot more demanding and forceful it seems. Heather Locklear is supposed to be on in 3 weeks.

blurb in today's paper that both Ashlee Simpson (Violet) and Colin Egglesfield (Augie) will be leaving soon... they say it has to do w/ wrapping up Sydney murder story.  I won't miss Violet (scary chick), but I like Colin/Augie.  He's nice to look at!

  • Yeah, I mentioned this in my post below, which as usual was probably overly long! I agree about Auggie; nice eye candy. -Spell

Interesting; I just looked up David Cassidy on IMDb and confirmed that he's Katie's father, though her parents were never married; Shirley Jones is David's stepmother, not mother, since he was born to Jack Cassidy and another wife before Jack and Shirley married; Katie was known as a singer before she made it as an actress (which I assume we'll get a sample of on the show sooner or later); and, most interestingly, Katie was actually born "Evelyn Benedon."  Guess she had her mother's last name before "Cassidy" helped her career more.  And I have to admit, "Katie" is more catchy than "Evelyn."

  • I think David Cassidy's mother was named Evelyn Ward, so that's probably where the name came from. -Miss H
  • amazing how you remember certain things from those 16 magazines.. David'd mother was Evelyn Ward (and I didn't even have to look that up... tho couldn't remember a conversation from 2 hours ago! LOL). - kris
  • Shows you how very impressionable teenagers are, huh? They're just little sponges of information, whereas the older you get the more your brain says *enough*! ;-D -Spell

Oh wow, Miss Harold ... I did learn recently that Amanda II is David Cassidy's daughter (he'll always be a teen for me!), but I'd forgotten he was Jack Cassidy's son - he was a similarly blond actor (well, who knows if hers is real of course) in the 60's and 70's, who I mostly remember from appearances on "The Love Boat" and "Hollywood Squares" though I know he did other things.  (He died a HORRIBLE death when his Hollywood apartment burned up around him, I think after he'd drunk himself into a stupor and maybe didn't put out a cigarette, which still haunts me.  What a terrible way to go!)  Hey, he was married to Shirley Jones, who is David Cassidy's mother ... is she this young lady's grandmother??  I guess so!  Very interesting.

On the news today is a story that The CW announced two of the M.P. characters will be leaving the show.  (Since when do they announce that in advance??  Kinda takes the punch out of the characters' death, disappearance or murder, doesn't it?)  Anyway it's Ashlee Simpson-Wentz - which will make somebody here happy, lisa3 I think it was who has commented a few times on what a lousy actress she is - and the guy who plays Auggie, the tall-ish, dark-haired guy who's a chef at Ashlee's restaurant (he got her the job) and who keeps being shown as the probable murderer of Sydney.  I wonder if they'll close out the story of either of the two characters having killed her, maybe together, with the two of them getting killed running from the law?  Anyway we'll see.

Hey, I also heard that yet another character from the old show will be joining this one.  Wow, they're going to end up with a total reunion, aren't they??  Might as well call it "Melrose Place II"!  Hmm, can't think of who it is right now but I'm thinking it was a secondary character, somebody or other's mom I think.  Or am I confusing it with "90210," another revival of an Aaron Spelling show??  Very possible.  Well I wouldn't mind if they brought back the entire casts of both shows, myself!

  • Right, now I remember his name (Jack Cassidy). He was quite a dashing actor in his day. Katie has his eyes, I think. -Miss H

I was quite impressed with the blond actress who plays Ella. She definitely seems like another Heather Locklear. For those of you old enough to remember David Cassidy, she is his real-life daughter. Actually, she looks a lot like her grandfather, who was also an actor back in the sixties (I can't think of his name).

  • I had no idea she was David Cassidy's daugher. Yes, she is Heather L. the 2nd........maybe the two will end up being mother/daughter or sisters/half-sisters or something! jpa
  • I have no idea if David Cassidy is still acting, but it would be fun if they cast him as Ella's father and Heather Locklear as her mother. They could have had her in high school and given her up for adoption. Just a thought! -Miss H
  • David was recently in Ruby & the Rockits, along w/ his brother Patrick and procuded by Shaun. Unfortunately, it got the axe... it was cute, on ABC Family maybe... his father would be Jack. And yes, his daughter is a beautiful girl and I definitely see the Heather Locklear resemblance. - kris

Oh yay, there are other bottom-feeding M.P. watchers besides me!!  Hee hee.  Such a guilty-pleasure show, isn't it?  I've been recording it since something else I like (2 things, actually) are on at the same time, and I'm gradually getting thru them.  I realized partway thru the last one that I'm actually HOOKED, just like with the original series!!

On one end of the spectrum, I'm really liking the photographer/filmmaker guy (who I'm thinking is patterned after Billy in the original show - sweet, well-meaning and not having that Hollywood edge most everyone else has, meaning VERY likeable); and at the other end, though I thought she was too much at first I'm really getting into the bad blonde girl (patterned after Ms. Locklear's character - good job!).

Now, to be constantly hearing about yet another old-show vet coming on board ... gee whiz, it sure looks like it's going to be practically the whole original cast, with a few young kids thrown in for good measure!  First Sydney was there - then Jane came in - now we've got Jo - and we're soon to get Amanda.  What more could we veterans want?!  I'm very happy.

My one big complaint:  No humor!  What dry, humorless scripting, where we go from one dramatic element to another.  Writers/producers:  That's what made the original show so darn much fun & addicting.  Michael used to be such an endearing goofball; now he's the big bad serious guy who people are actually afraid of.  I miss the old Michael a lot (but am just glad he's still there, anyway).

I also wish they could put the show into a slot where there's nothing else good on; I could stop recording it and watch it live.  But what am I saying - I really enjoy zapping thru them ads!  (Almost makes up for the humorless writing.)

Hey, jpa:  Have you tried watching it on hulu.com?  I find they have the biggest inventory of shows plus streaming quality, myself.

  • I tried hulu, won't work. My computer is awful. Anyway, you're right...no humor! I miss the old Melrose being on tv every Saturday morning. Soapnet shouldn't have pulled it...one ep a week wouldn't hurt them!! It is a guilty pleasure show!! jpa

Jo came to see the model girl Riley and apologized and said she's the new face of the jeans.  Riley's fiance went to the bar to meet the TV exec girl.

    think that was it.

boy Ashley Simpson character is borderline psychotic if you ask me... she looks like beg trouble - and gee, no one sees that?

  • Thanks for letting me know what happened. It was so maddening not knowing...(I need a new computer!) jpa
