Additional Comments:

I'm trying to find this awards show on the Nickelodeon channel.  It used to be shown on there ... is that still true?  I couldn't find it in searches on either's web site.

Thanks for whatever you might know ...

I think I need Dax.  He always comes through for me!  While all of your comments on the awards show, and TVLand in general, are interesting, what I'm hoping to find is that Nickelodeon will also be airing the awards show, as they've done in the last few years.  So far I haven't found a listing for it online, but hopefully it's coming ... ?

Anyone else have a clue about this?  Thanks much!

Hi Spelling.  TV Land used to be one of my favorite channels.   I ended up buying the entire seasons of I Love Lucy (including the specials),  The Andy Griffith Show,  and two seasons of Leave it to Beaver (they still haven't released the others), along with favorites of mine that did not appear on TV Land, such as That Girl and Lost in Space.   I also have a season here and there of Bewitched and Gomer Pyle, USMC.   I want to get the Invaders, but I might rent that from Netflix first.

TV Land, Soapnet, and BBC America - three channels that used to be on my favorites list, but no longer are - they all changed to get more viewers, or different viewers.   I love reality television, but NOT on TV Land.

  • Thank you for responding-not only to SpellingAddict, but to me as well.I used to love TVBland(as some call it now)but now I would rather see other channels which air the shows without any of these blurbs and adds and cutting whole three-minute segments.BAH!-Richard Ranke

I have gone Cold Turkey on that channel. What with it's new Reality shows(Blah!),advertisements for them appearing every five minutes during their programs-and whole blocks of shows every night-this is no longer the Classic TV Channel it was.I am grateful that I had the chance to record episodes of shows like Andy Griffith,Beverly Hillbillies and Leave it To Beaver on other channels without all those distracting plugs.

  • OMG. I stopped watching TVLand for the same reason. The last thing I want to see is more reality television. I fell in love with Nick-at-Nite, and later TVLand, because they aired classic television. I want to see Dobie Gillis, Donna Reed, Hazel, etc. I can't stand the mess that's on Nick-at-Nite or TVLand any more. The ''classic'' television shows aren't that old, and the rest of the programming is reality. (eom) Mandi

Not sure what to think of that opening. Vanessa Williams singing I'm Flying (from Peter Pan) as Greg Brady, Greatest American hero (William Katt), doc from Love Boat, the Beaver, Nellie Olson (Little House), MaryAnne (Gilligan's Island) and Arnold (Different Strokes) were all trussed up and FLYING over the audience. Then off goes Vanessa. I know it was supposed to be nostalgic but all it did (mainly) was point out has-beens. JMO.

The tributes were nicely done. Garry Marshall, Mike Myers and Jonathan Winters. It was fun seeing so many TV faces in the audience and I would have preferred seeing those that were flying introduced in their plain clothes at their seats.

  • I thought the opening number was extremely... ?... weird? sad? creepy? I don't know. Loved seeing The Greatest American Hero. I was a HUGE fan of that show. And VW did a great job singing, but it was just almost painful to watch. eom Elliott
  • I felt the same way about William Katt (loved the show) and my first thought was - he played Pippin, too (lol).eom/WE

I watched so I could see the tribute to Roseanne! Were all of the Roseanne cast drunk? LOL They did come on pretty late, enough time to get liquered up

  • I was sorry Laurie Metcalf wasn't there but she's in NY doing her Tony nominated role. Also LOVED that Lecy Goranson mentioned the late Glenn Quinn (Mark) that was nice. eom/WE

I just happened to find it on TV Land, last night. I believe it started at 8, Eastern time

I didn't see a lot of it: Tributes to The Golden Girls, Jonathan Winters, The Office.

From what I saw, it appeared to have been done well.
