I took my nephews to see it on New Years Day. It was a good movie, but I agree with katiesbeach, they should have focused a little more on Marley.
The hardest thing for me was that the end hit too close to home. I was in the exact situation on the 23rd with my sweet Eddie, so I cried my eyes out.
I saw it New Year's Eve day. I hadn't paid much attention to the previews and really wasn't much interested in seeing the movie but at the last minute we didn't know what to see and it was playing at a time when we wanted to go to the theatre so we went.
I enjoyed it from the get go but wasn't prepared for how sad it was at the end. Worth seeing but bring kleenex.
I liked it, but I definately liked the book much better. I think that they focused much more on the couple (John & Jen) and John's career and their growing family more than they actually focused on Marley. They had a LOT of material from the book to work with, and I was disappointed that they didn't use it to it's full potential.
Now, that being said, it didn't stop us from having a bawl fest during the last 20 minutes of the movie. There were actually women who were full out sobbing.
After we (my SIL & MIL) watched it, we had to come home and watch a funny movie to keep us from non-stop crying.
