As for me ... as expected I had mini-orgasms when 1) Jack made his initial appearance in that doorway, 2) they first showed the clock at the bottom of the screen, 3) they played the "24" opening graphic & music and The Kief gives the time-frame (YAY, IT'S BACK!!!!) and, most of all, 4) they went to the first commercial - HOW I LOVE THAT CLOCK MUSIC!! Okay, that one was a BIG orgasm.
But enough about my sex life. Overall, by the end, I guess I felt a little let down. It was a compelling story, of course, with all those helpless kids and the scary tribal violence; but I felt that it lacked that edge-of-your-seat suspense that has always brought me back to this show. I suppose the clock noise turned me on more than anything else during the 2 hours. Oh - I did love that old sarcastic humor Jack is known for, when he told the U.N. peacekeeping guy to "go join the children in the shelter" (or whatever words he used, to tell that wimpy, snivelling guy to go hide while he did what needed to be done) - HA!! Jack is Back, indeed. Taking on those groups of men all on his own ... who in the world can do that but Agent Bauer?? Or, I guess now, Private Citizen Bauer.
I found it just an appetizer before we get the main course in January; not all that impressive on its own, IMO.
What did you think?

I was a little let down, I suppose because I have been trying to be patient while I wait for the January premier of next season. But, I really did enjoy seeing Jack again! It was good, but not as good as it usually is......but, hey, what can I say? I'm such a fan, it could have been horrible and I would have still enjoyed it! :)
What I thought was fantastic was how Sprint/Nextel really had EXCELLENT coverage in the middle of nowhere Africa and that how they workers there really had updated phones - LOL.
It was definately 24-Lite and perdictable - I knew Jack would have to turn himself in order to get those kids saved. It was a good prequel to what was coming in January and a good way to set the story. I was glad to watch it and got a good laugh at how everyone else can get gunned down but Jack Bauer manages to escape the spray of bullets everywhere.
I am definately looking forward to the return of 24 in January!

I thought it was 24 Lite. I did not find myself on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, like every episode of 24 has done to me in the past. The story one one hand seemed like a big PSA about the child soldiers of Africa while on the other hand it was just giving us background for the next season on 24.
All in all it was better then 80% of the stuff on TV now.
