Subject: yeah that call in the chargers game was horrid. True story - I was watching and wondering why the heck there was this big discussion going on about where the ball should be placed ... I thought who cares the Chargers are just going on their knee anyway. Then I realized they were giving the ball back to Denver ... could not believe it. Of course, the official who called the first Colts TD an actual TD should be given bad marks too. RB did not in way shape or form touch the white line with the ball. Totally ridiculous. I hate when the refs end up influencing games so much.

Subject: you know ... of course that's true the chargers had a chance to defend. but i think sometimes a call like that takes a team out of the moment ... out of the game ... and throws the players off. its a huge let down to go from thinking woo hoo we grabbed a fumble to gee we are sorry - the other team gets the ball back. yes they are professionals and its their job to keep going ... but still a call like that effects momentum - it has to.

Subject: Was that the 5:00 game Sunday? Or last night's? Obviously I missed it (most, anyway; I had both games on in the background as I battled a migraine). But I think I heard a bit about it on the ESPN news. I'm going to have to look it up; sounds like one of those all-time worst calls in NFL history. You have my sympathies, carmen. -Spell

Subject: If it's any consolation, the giants went 0-2 last year before winning the SB. The chargers are still favorites. If they fix their defense, they'll be fine. They're hurting without merriman who's out for the season. /chet
