**** What’s there to say Gabi. Maria’s seems fine and well to everyone that look at her and talk with her,” Antonio mentions. “when really half the time its all an act,” he adds. “I didn’t realise until today, after having long hour of conversation,” Gabi declares. “her pregnancy has been hard on her.” “its been hard on you and Ricardo too.” “yeah and Ben. The thing about Maria she wouldn’t want anyone to worry about her that’s why she paints on a mask, and for a few hours she laughing and getting along with everyone like the house on fire, but that doesn’t last for long,” Antonio expresses. “I gathered, it was like the way she was talking almost like she knew everything that Ben went through when you thought she died.”
Antonio concentration sharpens at Gabi. “what do you mean?” he asked. “I told Maria that she had hold on peoples life, and she replied back saying she wished that wasn’t the case. That all she would to his ruin peoples life and they will start to hate her and the memories they’ve shared together,” Gabi tells him. She watched Antonio face expression changing to completely blank. “she said that front of Ben?” Antonio double checks. “yeah, things were so intense between him and Maria though. Ben then left with Benji. I don’t think he knows how to deal with her.” Antonio shook his head slowly.
“is everything okay Antonio?” Gabi was getting concerned. “yeah, its fine,” he replies and grabs his keys from the desk. “look Gabi I have to go, I have some errands to ran,” he says and heads out of his office…
**** “Annie!” Maria was confused to see her, as Annie walks straight in. “hey,” Maria greets her, while she then noticed her best friend eyes were swollen and red. She was very upset. “Annie what’s wrong?” Maria asked worried and concerned, while Annie begins to cry. “Maria you know I’ll never do anything to hurt you, i’ll never do anything to jeopardise our friendship,” Annie sobs. “I know sweetie but you’re not making sense,” Maria tells her and places her on the sofa to calm her down. “just calm down and start from the beginning…”
***** Casey opens the door at Surf Central. It was Meg. “Meg, hi.” “hi Casey, can I come in?” Meg asked. “sure,” he lets her through while she goes to the lounge and places her bag on the sofa. Casey gathered something was wrong, this wasn’t the first time he’d seen Meg acting all cool and pretending she’s fine, when clearly she was in the edge of braking. “so what can I do for you?” Casey asked.
“Casey, we have been friends for over three years now. And you’re one of me best friends,” Meg states as he witnessed the tears forming in her eyes. “I know Meg,” Casey agrees. “you have always been there for me when I needed someone to talk to about my problems with Ben. You’ve never lied to me Casey and you’ve always been honest with me and I need you to be honest with me now more then ever,” Meg adds as Casey could see Meg was trying very hard to be strong.
“Meg has something happened,” Casey was worried and confused. “yes, I think so. Everything is falling apart Casey, my whole life,” Meg begins to cry. “what do you mean?” “something happened between Ben and Maria at the party, and now Ben has been so cold and distance from me. I’m so scared Casey, I think I’m loosing him,” Meg cries more. “hey come here,” he takes her into his arms and comforts her…
**** Annie wipes her nose and tears, she had finally stopped crying. “so did you have a fight with Jude,” Maria questions wanting to know the cause of her best friend being so upset. Annie shakes her head. “no, it was Ben,” Annie reveals, while Maria eyes widens in anxious. “Ben, what do you mean with Ben, is he okay,” she felt she was beginning to panic. “yeah his fine.” “thank god, he was here a while ago,” Maria adds confused why Ben would go and pick a fight with Annie. “Maria her threatened me,” Annie says.
“what do you mean he threatened you?” this didn’t sound like her Ben to threaten Annie. “he thinks I told you things about the past, what he went through when we thought you died. He thinks I told you that he smashed your painting and how he started to hate you and your memories,” Annie cries, while tears begin to fill Maria’s eyes watching Annie cry. “but Maria I didn’t. he was being so horrible to me and told me all I think about is myself and no one else. And that I have a habit of always telling you the truth,” Annie goes on, while Maria listens only brooding down at the table.
“but you know I will never do anything to hurt you Maria. So I did tell you a few things but I have learnt from my mistakes. He said for me to stay away from you and that if I didn’t he will stop me himself,” Annie sobs, while tear runs down Maria’s cheeks. “I’m sorry, Annie, I’m so sorry,” Maria apologises and hugs her. “I’ll sort it out I promise,” as a cheeky grin appears on Annie’s face. “that will show Meg,” she thinks to herself…
**** how do you something happened between Ben and Maria?” Casey asked. “it since that following day Ben had been weird around me, almost like I have done something wrong,” Meg continues. “and Vanessa, she told me something did happen and that she can’t tell me because she just doesn’t want to interfere,” Meg elaborates. “after I left Casey what happened?” Meg asked. As much as he could see this was hurting Meg from not knowing the truth, he couldn’t tell her. “Meg there’s a reason why Vanessa didn’t tell you, is the same reason why I’m not going to tell you,” Casey mentions.
“you mean you won’t tell me either,” Meg was beginning to get angry. “look Meg- you’re seeing what this is doing to me and you just will let me suffer,” Meg cries. “Meg you have to understand. I’m your friend and i want you to be happy. But this is none of our business and we shouldn’t be interfering in your problem,” Casey states. “the whole time when Sarah and I were together, I’ve always told Sarah to keep out from your problems and marriage with Ben. Because I know and I’ve seen what its done in the past when someone put their foot in somewhere, where it didn’t belong. It will only make the situation more worse then it already is,” Casey adds.
“you should talk to Ben, after all he is your husband. I’m sure he’ll tell you.” “so that’s it you won’t tell me,” Meg makes sure. “why don’t you want to confront Ben?” “because I’m scared Casey, I’m scared, I don’t know what he will do or say, or even react!” “Meg his still your husband and you still have a right to know. Besides if you have been honest with Ben and have done nothing wrong, then there’s nothing for you to worry about,” Casey explains. “can you give me a little clue?” Meg seemed desperate. “the only thing I can tell you is that have you said anything to anyone about Ben and his kids?” “no, not that I know of,” she was so confused. “then maybe you should think harder,” Casey suggests. “I’m sorry I can’t help you.” “well thanks any way,” she leaves leaving the front door open, while Casey shakes his head.
“I’m sorry Meg, I too I’m worried about you and what this will mean for your marriage,” Casey says to himself…
