**** Ben tuck Benji into bed and switches the lamp on. “Daddy can I tell you something,” Benji asked his father. He wasn’t sure how to tell him. “sure you can, what is it?” “promise you won’t be angry with me,” he wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to be in trouble. “I promise,” Ben assures him. “well today, the gardenia that you found in your briefcase… well it was me who put that in there not aunt Annie,” Benji confesses.
You!” Ben was shock indeed. “why didn’t you tell me sooner?” “because I was scared. I thought you will be angry with me if I did. You were with aunt Annie,” Benji explains feeling bad for his aunt. “I wasn’t angry Benji I was just…” Ben pauses and looks at Maria’s painting. “I was shocked to see it because that was your mother used to do everyday before I went to work,” Ben informs his son. “I’m sorry daddy, I didn’t mean to make you upset. I just put it in there for you to remember me the whole day,” Benji apologises. “no harm done, thanks for telling me the truth,” Ben says raffling Benji hair. “looks like I owe that red devil aunt of yours an apology,” Ben mentions feeling awful on how he treated Annie…
**** Antonio walks into his brothers bed-sit, he knew the door was unlock. “hey T. what’s up?” Ricardo asked. He knew something was wrong by the expression on Antonio’s face. “we have a problem,” Antonio states while a frown appears on Ricardo’s forehead.
**** Meg walks into the beach house of
**** “what do you mean we have a problem?” Ricardo asked. “I think the whole thing with Meg and Maria it’s about to blow over,” Antonio informs his brother. “why do you think that?” “Gabi went to see Maria today and Ben was there. Lets just says Maria said things about the past that Ben isn’t impressed that she knows,” Antonio explains. “Meg,” Ricardo states. Antonio nods his head. “well its about time Ben found out what his wife been up to behind his back. She gets what she deserves,” Ricardo mentions. “justice has to be done T.” “except I just went home now and Maria left Mariah with Paula, and she didn’t say where she was going, that she had something to take care of.” Ricardo eyes widen.
“you don’t think she’s gone to tell Ben has she?” “I don’t know Ricardo. What, what’s wrong?” Antonio didn’t like the look on his brothers face. “Antonio, Annie was at Maria’s before, and she seemed upset.” “so,” Antonio didn’t understand. “don’t you get it, Annie has a habit of telling Maria the truth,” Ricardo reminds his younger sibling. “and Ben must of think it was Annie who told Maria truth and so must have threatened her,” Antonio adds. “which is why Annie must have come to see Maria and told her what Ben said to her.” “and Maria isn’t going to let someone take the blame for something they didn’t do especially her best friend and has gone to tell,” “her precious English everything,” Ricardo completes the sentence.
Both brothers glance at one another. “we got to get to Ben’s, otherwise we’re about to see fireworks,” Antonio claims as they both ran out of the front door…
**** “Maria,” Meg was surprised to see her, while Maria nudges passed Meg and walks straight into the house. “where’s Ben?” she asks her coldly. “excuse me but who the hell do you think you are coming into my house- your house!” Maria interrupts her raising her voice. “for what I remember it was Ben who built this house for me and gave it to me on our wedding day,” Maria triggers her memory. “look Maria I know you are angry.” “you don’t have a clue!” Maria shouts back at Meg. For the first time Meg was seeing a feisty side of Maria that she never seen before.
“now where’s Ben?” Maria asks again. “he’s not here,” Meg answers her question. “where is he?” “I don’t know.” “fine I’ll wait for him,” Maria says folding her arms over her chess and giving Meg an unpleasant look. “why, what’s this all about?” Meg questions. Maria throes an evil look at Meg. “don’t even pretend you don’t know what its about. I think its about time your husband and I have a conversation about what his sweet caring scheming two face wife of his has been up to behind his back,” Maria calls Meg. “i have kept my distance from Ben and I have kept my mouth quiet well not any more Meg. Not when my best friend getting blamed for something she didn’t do or say.” “look Maria- and if you think I am going let someone innocent take the blame for something that you told me, then you have another thing coming Meg,” Maria interrupts.
“it was you who told me that Ben smashed my painting. It was you who told me that Ben hates me. It was you who told me Ben started to hate my memories. It you who told me he’s only being a father to my kids because he feels sorry for them, not because he loves them. It was you Meg, not Annie you! And I’m going to make sure he knows it was you,” Maria demands. “so yes I did tell you these things Maria only because it’s the truth. Because Ben did tell me he hated you and he did tell me that you are not the woman he thought you were,” Meg claims.
“you expect me to believe this do you?” “believe it or don’t believe it, you know I don’t lie Maria.” “well how about I confront Ben then?” Maria suggests. “why, why do you want to do that to him, remind him of the past and what he went through when he thought you were dead. Ben wasn’t living and I came into his life and I gave him his life back. It was me Maria who helped him move forward,” Meg explains. “all you have been is this dark shadow of his past, taking him two steps back words when his only trying to move forward. Did you know its because of me Ben is living still in this house,” Meg tells Maria. “he wanted to move out of this house, sell this place, but I told him not to because I told him we can create our own wonderful memories together. So therefore you should be thanking me. Because of me Ben still has this house!” Meg shouts. “so do yourself a favour and everyone else, leave the past where it belongs and let Ben be happy.”
“alright, I’ll do that Meg, I’ll let Ben be happy. But let me tell you something, Ben and I we will be raising our children together and Ben has already figured out and picked up something is wrong between us,” Maria tells Meg. “Bens not stupid Meg, he knows something has happened between us, and he will get to truth no matter what. Because something you should know about Ben Evans is that the man he loves searching for the truth, and his not going to stop until he gets to it. And when he does Meg he is going to embarrass and humiliate you in such a way that all you would want to do is crawl under a rock and never come out.” She could see she was begging to scare Meg.
“that’s what Ben would do when he finds out what you have been up to. And when he does, I’m going to have the pleasure in watching you loose Ben. And you will loose Ben Meg, its just a matter of time.” Giving her an evil eye Maria walks out of the door leaving it open, Meg shaking, in fear. Walking slowly up to the door she shuts it back, and turns around.
“aaahh!” she lets out a little shock scream as her blue eyes widen in complete shock and fear. She was shaking to see who was standing beside the banister. It was her husband…
“Ben!” Meg didn’t know what to say, as all Ben did was as a dead serious look on his face. He didn’t even smile at her and the look in his eyes is completely new to her. She has never seen him stare at her like this ever. “your home?” she was confused, but he doesn’t reply. “who was at the door?” he questions her. “it was M-Maria,” Meg informs him. “why was she here?” “she wanted to tuck Benji in bed but I told her your not in because your car’s not outside.” Ben doesn’t say anything only broods back at Meg. “speaking of your car, where is it?” Meg wanted to know. “left it at Maria’s,” he replies, and begins to walk up towards her slowly. She kept moving backwards and leans on the dinner table, while Ben comes right next to her almost leaning over her, while she leans back, his eyes still on her and grabs his keys from her back. “I’m going next door, have something’s to take care of,” he tells her and gives her a fake smile. He then walks out of the deck door…
**** “Annie I’m sorry,” Ben apologises to her. “how could you think I will hurt Maria?” “I just…” Ben pauses. “I know it wasn’t you.” “you mean you know it was sMeg?” “how do you know?” “because Benji told me.” “Benji?” Ben was confused. “the day Meg came to see Maria Benji was at Maria’s taking a nap,” Annie explains. “and he heard everything.” Now it made sense to Ben why Benji doesn’t want to left alone with Meg. “why didn’t you tell me?” “because we couldn’t Ben, you and to know for yourself.” “who’s we?” “oh Ricardo and Antonio they know too.” “so I’m last person to know I’m I?” “look we didn’t want to tell you especially me because I know you will think all I’m trying to do is cause trouble between you and Meg. I told you and I promised you I w ill never do anything to hurt you and Maria,” Annie gently touches him on the shoulder.
“I accused you of something you didn’t do. The last time I did that it cost them there life,” Ben says in regret. “I know…”
