**** “Father Antonio, someone’s here to see you,” one of sisters informed him. “I’ll see you late Ben,” Antonio says and walks off. “so Ricardo what brings you here to the mission?” Ben asked wondering. Ricardo was never a church person either. “same reason probably as you Evans,” Ricardo lets out. And sits on one of the chairs as Ben came and sat next to him. “you know were not different,” Ricardo mentions. “I suppose your not.” “I heard about last night,” Ricardo lets Ben know. “who hasn’t,” Ben says. “how was Maria when she got home?” he was keen to know. “seemed fine. You know the usual,” Ricardo responds. Ben remains quiet. “I tell you another reason why you feel drawn to Maria.” Ben pays his attention at Ricardo. “you guys experienced almost death together. And when you go through some so intense with someone you feel tied to them forever,” Ricardo suggests as Ben only eyed him. “sounds time your talking from experience,” Ben says.
“yeah I guess I am.” He looks at his wedding band and then remembers Paula’s confession. “you still fill committed to Gabi don’t you?” Ben questioned. “i don’t know what I feel for her. I thought I had it figured out. i couldn’t understand why I married Gabi and then Maria she made me realise why I did,” Ricardo confides to Ben. “I just can’t get myself to open it. I mean we made vows, promises, and commitment to each other. no offence to you or anything Ben, but last thing I want is going down the same road as you have with Maria and Meg.” “but there isn’t much difference between your and my situation Ricardo. Not if you still have feelings for Paula. and the quiestion is did you make the comiitment to Gabi for the right reasons.”
“I wonder how my life would have been if Paula never left town. She was pregnant Ben when she left,” Ricardo says as Bens eyes widen. “your joking,” Ben lets out. Ricardo shakes his head. “so what happened to the baby?” “she lost it, no thanks to that scum Joshua. She was going to tell me and wanted to but then found out Gabi and I were together- and so didn’t bother,” Ben interrupts. “she was the first woman that I committed to you know really committed to,” Ricardo goes on. “I know,” Ben agrees. He couldn’t believe just how similar Ricardo situation was to his. “do you have any idea how it feels to know that a woman you loved actually kept something this big from you?” Ricardo questions.
“yeah actually I do,” Ben agrees while Ricardo stares back him. “because that’s exactly what Maria did.” Ricardo eyed Ben in confusion. “what do you mean?” Ricardo wanted to know. “Maria was pregnant when she fell of the boat that night Ricardo, and Benji’s mine and hers…”
