Additional Comments: they should have written the character out of the show awhile ago, when they made the insane decision to have her be Katherine's daughter. If you watched the show from the Brenda Dickson days as Jill on the show, you can probably understand where I'm coming from when I say that mother or no mother, the "real" Jill would be dancing on Katherine's coffin and not mourning her death.
They attempted to rewrite history by making it appear Katherine was the one wronged and Jill was the little vixen with a mission to capture Phillip but when I was watching the show back then, it was Katherine who was the b*tch that deserved to die. Jill was working in a beauty salon (Hazel's?) as a manicurist and would do Katherine's nails when she would come in. Jill didn't have two nickles to rub together and would be in awe over Katherine's beautiful rings and jewelry. Katherine was an unhappy boozehound who's husband (Phillip), at best, "tolerated" her because he felt sorry for her. If there had been any love between the two, it died years ago.
Kay asks Jill to come to work for her and be "companion" and that's what she did. She never entered the house with any "agenda". I remember the episode where Phillip had some important function at his house and was counting on Katherine to play hostess which she guaranteed him she would -- and then she got drunk out of her mind and Phillip asked Jill if she would step in which she reluctantly did. Their love grew over time - it wasn't like they ended up in the sack within a week after they met. Jill was torn over the situation and lamented over how she felt.
When Katherine put the pedal to the metal after she picked up Phillip from his quickie divorce in the Domincan Republic, it was clearly a case of "if I can't have you, nobody will." She killed her husband and Jill was heartbroken. Then when Jill learned she was pregnant, Katherine tried to buy her baby. Katherine tortured Jill for awhile and it wasn't until Jill met John Abbot that she was finally in more of a position to fight back. At that point, Jill's character had turned cold hearted - but it was because of all the pain and loss she had endured from Katherine.
Then comes the ridiculous storyline about Jill being adopted and out of ALL the women in the world that could have been her real mother, it ends up being Katherine. What were they thinking. They wrote the character into a corner by doing that and making her turn into the loving daughter. Would you be able to forgive your mother if she was the one who was responsible for murdering the love of your life and annulling your marriage to him?

Message: Truth be told, the character of Jill is so completely glorious that it is not possible to ruin her.

Message: I agree for the most part. I have always felt it was a huge mistake to make Katherine and Jill mother and daughter. I blame Jack Smith and his penchant for doing stories he thought woud be "explosive" at the expense of character integrity, history and, too often, common sense.
Aside from all the history you laid out, I should think the topper of all toppers would be finding out that Katherine stole Jill's baby and switched it with another, depriving Jill of having a life with her son and Cane of his mother. I can't see how, on top of everything else, Jill could ever get past that or even speak to Katherine again, let alone forgive her or love her.
The writers have some screwy idea that simply because they are biologically related, they are therefore duty-bound to have "love" for one another, as though blood trumps history and reason. It's a lot of sentimental nonsense that has no basis in reality.

Message: First off, nice message! You really put some thought into it and obviously know your Y&R!!!
I've watched soaps since I was a kid and everyone goes through changes, rewrites...and Jill is still a supreme 8itch! I have ZERO pity for her, she's devoid of real emotion or empathy. Her character at this point is barely human! I say, write her off, I agree! Bbbye Shrew!!! Go to Darfur and help Mack save orphans!!!!!!

Message: When I started watching Y&R..Jill was already working for Katherine C...
And I also remember it was Jill who paid the way for her brothers to go
to college..with the money she earned being a manicurist..Back in the day..
Kay was a real witch..and if she was still the same woman now..there would
have been a lot less grieving on the part of Jill...or Brock for that matter..
because he also knew what Kay was like in the old days. Liz Foster..was
the only one who knew the true Katherine C.
