Topic: Spoiler - Adam and Newman Enterprises

One of the websites is reporting the spoiler than Adam will fire Neil and take control of NE.  Well, that was what I expected once it was presumed that Victor was dead (even though in reality you have to wait 7 years to settle the estate when there is no body).

Here's the shocker though -  Adam appoints BRAD as CEO!

Why on earth would Adam appoint Brad as CEO of NE????  That makes no sense at all in so many respects!  Adam blames Brad, partially, for Skye's death because he knew about David Chow's gambling history and set Chow up to lose all his money to Skye.   Also, does Adam not know that Victor despised Brad Carlton or has he not been informed of all the history there?  This all saddens me so much because I'm a big Adam fan and I see a HUGE fall coming for him after this.  Victor will come back, lambast him for his actions and, I'm afraid, "dismiss" Adam from his life as he's done to Nicholas and Victoria times before. 

Maybe they're setting up a Victor/Adam business feud?  Maybe Adam will end up starting his own rival business and go to war against Newman Enterprises.

Yes, but what about the great man himself. He was a self-made man without the formal education. And as far as Brad goes, we know he's had a lot of experience in the business. --Paula

This is what I was hoping, for, too. Y&R is known for good corporate writing, and I personally think Adam represents that, and nothing but business. Victoria and Nick and not all about the corporate world. Maybe Neil is on his way out of NE, anyway. Neil won't be seeing Karen as much, either. Maybe Karen will see what a wimp Neil is.

Well, Neil blew it. He should never have sided with the Newman brats. If Neil was a real business person, he would have seen where the business power and knowledge is-with Adam. Time for Neil to go-Neil has really trying to get fired, too.

I love Adam. Some people don't, but what other people see as immature and whiny, I see as persistent and driven, which is what it takes for business. Brad and Adam can sit in the shadows, plot and puff cigars. I can see that.

Sorry, IMHO this just goes to show how immature and unknowledgable Adam is. If this is true, he just appointed someone who is even more power hungry than he is. Not a smart move. Furthermore, he appointed the person who was responsible for getting his friend Skye killed by cheating Chow. All this time Victor has been gone, he has been claiming that he is the best person because he knew what Victor wanted. Victor has enough since to know that you can't trust Brad to even be your poolboy without his angling. Gives proof to the theory that Adam is school smart and commense sense poor.

I'm thinking that Adam is planning to use the information he has about Brad's role in David's downfall as a way to 'control' Brad. Skye told Adam to 'file the information about Brad' away. He did that, but I'm sure he hasn't forgotten about it - or Brad's indirect role in Skye's death.

Neil has proven to be a man of character whereas Adam is just a little immature Victor wannabe. I would pick Neil any day to run a business over spoiled brat Adam.

Taylor, I'm going along w/you 100%. Adam is nothing compared to Neil. IMHO anyway.

This is what I was hoping for. Now this makes for a good SL and will lead up to the climatic return of TGVN. I have to say that Victor deserves this for being so irresponsible. I hope Adam has the business in shambles when he returns and that Neil and Vicki have joined another company.

Adam walking in a taking over just because Victor is PRESUMED dead is just too far fetched.  IRL Adam would still have to answer to the board and, aside from that, Adam could not take control from an appointed exec like Neil.  Neil is Victor's chosen second in command. Everyone knows it and there MUST be some kind of company charter that spells it out.

Until Victor is declared dead and the will is filed, Adam really has no standing.

I was hoping for a good corporate battle but I don't think this is going to be it.  And now that they're removing Brad from Jabot, I don't see much hope for that one to be very interesting.

At this point, it seems the only thing to look forward to is Victor's reaction when he gets back.

Victor ought not, then, have gone skulking off with not telling someone, and leaving instructions. SO THERE!

kerravon, you're absolutely right. In Victor's absence, without a clear directive, it would be the BOARD that decides just who would take over in Victor's absence. The Board would have to vote on it.......................DianeR

Way to go Neil. Little pipsqueak finally did what was inevitable. Yes, that is how 2nd in command of a huge billion dollar conglomerate is supposed to run things. You get fired by the boss' son, after months of being treated like an inferior since day one. Wimp.

Thats interesting because I was connecting the dots about Brad being so agreeable to Jill after she appointed Cane.  Remember too, Skye and Brad had a connection. Isn't Brad the person about which Skye said to Adam, ''file it away?''

wasn't that Chow he was referring to? But he knows Brad is a gambler... not sure if he knew to what degree... he should know better than this, if he's supoosed to be so smart. But, oh yeah.. maybe this is Hope's side this time. meh.
