I've been an on/off viewer for years so I guess I missed that story. Was it part of the show or before?

The posters below are right, this happened when Brenda Dickson played Jill, during her first marriage to John Abbott. Jill had an amniocentesis which revealed the baby would have severe birth defects. John was optimistic that they had the love and the resources to care for the baby, but Jill was not on board. One day while Mamie was hanging drapes Jill got up on a chair to "help" and fell off, resulting in a miscarriage. Jill always insisted it was an accident, but viewers were left with the impression she did it on purpose.

I would only add, that I don't think it was ever clarified who the father of Jill's miscarried baby was, right? IOW, it could have been John's or the result of her cabin fling with Jack. Is that correct?

Yeah, Jill was married to John, but she'd had sex with Jack when they were snowed-in at the cabin. I think she got pregnant then, and there was a question of paternity. I might be wrong on the timing, but it sounds like what they do on soaps.

Yes, Ulie, there apparently was a paternity issue involving Jack and John. They have the clip of this over at youtube when Jill announces she's pregnant. And that's the tagline. (inside)

Right before Billy was concevied? I don't think so. The drapery incident occurred in the mid-80s when Brenda was still in the role. Billy wasn't born until John & Jill's second marriage in the early 90s.

Well, the only other ''pregnancy'' I remember was the fake one with Stuart Brooks where Jill claimed she fell down the stairs and lost the baby. But the pregnancy was just a ruse to get Stuart to marry her instead of her Mother. So, it would seem unlikely that she was referring to this incident. eom VeeJay
