Topic: How are Cane and Lily going to pay for the baybeeeee?

Additional Comments: Some insurances cover in vitro, but neither Cane or Lily work for a corporation anymore, so I'm not sure where they'll come up with the 30k+ it will cost to get this kid into Mac's womb. Will Neil or Kay pay for it?

According to Lily, Ghost Colleen assured her that the tooth fairy and Santa Claus will help pay for the baybee.

Keep in mind Cane "sold" the bar to Mac so maybe he got a few million buckaroos for the dump (it is a soap)...

With Dru being a big time super model, don't you think she had a pretty good life insurance policy?  I would think that Lily got something out of the death of her mom.  But on soaps, we never get to see how anything is paid for.

How does anyone on this show pay for anything?  It doesn't seem to matter.  How many times have you seen them pay for coffee or dinner?  Not many.  I think they put it all on their soap tab!

If we get right down to the nitty gritty, who's paying for Lily's cancer treatment which has to cost a bundle.  Lily must be too old to be on Neil's company insurance.  Of course, Neil has to have a few $$$$ having been an executive for either Newman or Chancellor.  Maybe he's paying cash.

As for the invitro, Mac is an heiress in her own right...correct?  Being a granddaughter of TGKC, I'm sure good ole grandma ma would be willing to help the granddaughter out.    Cane is still considered a 'part of Jill and Mrs. C's world'...right?  Maybe they're bankrolling their living arrangement and illness.  I guess it's a 'detail', like characters doing ordinary things like going to the bathroom, that we never see or are supposed to think about.

Some insurance does cover IVF, but I believe they only cover it when the insured is carrying the child. Gestational surrogates are probably a whole 'nother story. I wonder how good Mac's insurance is.

  • Also, a couple of friends have gone through IVF. It was about $8000 to $10,000 per cycle, depending on how much medication they needed. Since Mac doesn't have to make any eggs for them, she won't need those expensive drugs. If Mac conceived on the first go-round, and they're not paying anything but her medical costs, they'd be into it for quite a bit less than $30,000.--mp
  • Oh thanks, Martypants, I must have been thinking of another procedure that my friend is considering...similar..-Elyse

And how pray tell would Amber and Daniel pay for a baby if she got pregnant after all she is the one who said she wanted 10 kids?!! Can you really support 10 kids on an artist's and "designer" pay check?! As for Cane and Lily..where there is will there is a way!

  • I can't remember, did Mrs. C let Amber keep the inheritance she got when it was thought that the old gal was dead? I can't remember...maybe Amber still has a chunk of that cash left if Mrs. C let her keep it. After all, Amber was helping Mrs. C write her autobiography...maybe she's getting book royalties. Elaine

Dippity-Do Daddy has probably been paying for everything all along since his widdle baby girl has the big C, so he'll probably foot the bill for this stupid escapade too.

We couldn't have some reality and have them be told that it will cost so much $ to do this and they don't have insurance and they don't have jobs so how will they pay for it.  Besides the fact that they shouldn't be doing it because they don't know if she will live or not and that would just be dandy that Cane has to raise this kid on his own after she dies from the big C.

  • And it would be too mean of Daddy to say that they were on their own and would have to pay for all themselves for even thinking of such a stupid idea. And in case Cane should get a job and not be able to be the caretaker for the baby and Lily after such a serious illness not strong enough to do it on her own---what about money for someone to help with the baby, cooking, cleaning? What an idiotic idea. Who is writing this stuff? I don't expect super realism for this program but this gets to the ridiculous. Of course, Neil would have to foot the bill. Hopefully, Cane will get a job. - Mayabe Lily thinks she'll be back to modeling the minute she gets home from the hospital. Oh well, what am I going on about?-- Paula
  • I'm surprised someone hasn't already approached Lily about doing a photo shoot and story about her cancer with her wonderful bald head! UGGHHH! sizzle
