Did Marge's ghost send Murdoch to find Katherine right away and save her before she froze to death and died?
He was carrying fishing gear, so Marge must have planted in his head the idea that he SHOULD go to the brook (that was running water near Katherine, remember) TODAY and do some fishing. It must have been a very cold day because he was wearing a parka.
Then he found Katherine.

Message: Probably, or else it was an amazing coincidence. I found it funny that he put his coat on her upper half while her legs were still in the water losing heat.
