Additional Comments: I am not to familiar with Devon so what is that he wears over his ear all the time? Is it his phone? I never see him talking to anyone on it if it is!

Message: A choclear implant isn't a hearing aid. It is an implant that allows the person to hear far more than a hearing aid & takes the place of the function of the inner ear itself. A hearing aid only amplifies & relies on what it already there. With a choclear implant device, the remaining hearing is lost in order for the device to work.
What you see Devon wearing is the portion of the device that 'collects' the sound & sends it to the implanted portion inside his ear. Without the exterior portion, Devon hears absolutely nothing. With a hearing aid, there is usually some degree of residual hearing.

Message: It's a hearing aid. He's been wearing it ever since the storyline where he went deaf and had surgery to help restore his hearing. I give TPTB kudos for keeping that bit of continuity going.
