Topic: I really like Adam, cant see why everyone else hates him.EOM

I’m really torn on Adam.  The actor is good, not outstanding but plays the part okay, and fairly easy on the eyes.  As for the character, I don’t like the way he’s undermining Victoria at work.  I don’t like his condescending attitude to most people, especially Nick and Victoria.  But in a way you can understand why he’s acting this way.  When he first met Victoria, and he asked if she and Nick were at all curious about him, and she said no, not at all, that was so cold.  My heart really broke for him.  He was hurt by that, and he already feels Victor neglected him and his mother.  And nobody really has tried to reach out to him and be his friend since he got to town.  They should show him establishing friendships with at least one person.  And as for Skye, sorry just don’t like her.  What’s the point of her?  She’s too harsh, not really Adam’s type.  He should at least meet someone on the canvas and maybe casually date at first.  And not Phyllis, what was the point of that anyway?

Personally I think the actor playing him is a miscast, and I don't think the writers can decide what to do with him. They seem to have backed off the idea of him stalking Phyllis, and with the flurry of calls he made to his New York girlfriend it was a surprise to see Skye come and go so quickly. They keep shifting gears with this character. I don't think he's being written as "complex," I just think the writers are reactionary to viewer response and write him all over the map.

TAB your remarks to Renny were a little snide! I was under the assumption that all of us on this board were allowed to express our opinion's without someone snipping at us. I think you owe Renny an apology...IMVHO

Well I think ''Renny'' is a little out of the loop by saying ''everyone else'' hates Adam when clearly the majority of posters love him, and the topic itself is very much hit and run with just a subject line and no text. It is accusatory and rather childish if you ask me, so I stand by my believe that he or she needs to get a grip. -TAB

It's a shame you can't see how irrational it is for someone to come along and slam an imaginary ''everyone'' that doesn't seem to exist, which is the only purpose of this topic line. I think ''get a grip'' is a rather constructive suggestion to such childish behavior. Perhaps you are just upset with someone not falling in line to take it as yet another opportunity to heap praise on Adam. -eom

I really like Adam, too.  I am just glad that they are starting to show a more caring side to him.  I was wondering for a while if he had a conscience.  When he said his mother would be appalled by his actions (can't remember exactly what he said) he was right on.  She did not raise him to be this way so I am glad that they are starting to show another side to him.

I think he genuinely felt sorry that Vikki was gone. He was alone in her office, so no one was looking at him, and his face really looked sad. I think he enjoyed the competition between them, while she hated it.

I quite like Adam.  I like the fact that they've written him as a complex character... he'll do something that seems sweet and nice, and then the next minute he's shooting off one of his priceless remarks to somebody and vanishing before they can comment. LOL. Most of the time IMVHO he's smack on with his comments. And I like Skye with him. It's been good to have a woman in the picture to loosen him up, and show us a different side of him. I'm looking forward to seeing what he's up to in the future. For me, he's made Y&R much more interesting.

I like Adam alot!!! I really enjoy watching him interact with the priveleged and be right up front. If anything I think Vicky and Nick are much more threaten by him than he is jealous of them and that of course is Victor's fault because he has always made love to his children so conditional that even at their age they know they can be replaced or disowned and are afraid of not pleasing Daddy. If Victoria and Nick were real people I would feel really sorry for them beacuse I don't know anyone with that kind of controlling parent that can be happy without totally cutting them out of their life. I hope Adam continues to benefit from not being subjected to TGVN until now.

I don't hate him, but I don't necessarily love him either.  I think he's a lonely guy who is out for a certain revenge against Vic and his kids.  I've called him a little piss ant in the past and still think that he has a long way to go to redeem himself.  Let's see if he does.

Not ''everyone else hates him.'' There have been quite a number of posts liking him. I am one of them. Personally, I think Adam has payback on his mind. He has contrasted his mother's life style with that of the Newman dynasty. He has contrasted his own efforts to get an education and a place in the sun with that of Nik and Vicki. He is smart enough to lay at least some of the blame at Victor's feet. I would not be surprised if his decision to leave New York and come to Genoa City was with a plan to make Victor pay for his ignoring Hope and Adam all these years.

I don't hate him. I'm undecided. I don't think we really know this character yet.

Lets wait and see what happens between him/Phyllis/Nick. Lets see what happens when TGVN gets tired of having his butt kissed. Lets see him say the wrong thing to the wrong person. We haven't see this guy suffer any consequence of action yet. How he deals with adversity will be how I judge him.
