The rumor circulating in the famous hollywood diner where all the waiters have excellent listening ears is that Ryder's mother is Christine Blair!
WOW!

Unquote.

Either the rumor mongers under estimate the intelligence of the on line audience or they have a strange sense of humor.

It would make more sense for him to be Nina's son, the one taken by Rose de Ville.

  • I could easily see that making sense BEFORE they cast John Driscoll as PC4, but now ''Chance'' looks older than Ryder, and Nina's other missing son has to be older than Chance. .. BTW - Wil Bethel (Ryder) has said that the role he originally came in to test for was the Chance character. - Ty

I don't believe Christine is Ryder's mom. I think, Ryder's mom will turn out to be Katherine's long lost daughter, someone new to the show.

  • You may be right! With Jill asking Paul to find Ryder's mom and viewers trying to guess who the mysterious woman was that visited Ryder in jail, it could be Katherine's daughter. eom/abc

This seems implausible to me on so many levels.  For one, Christine has always been a crusader for truth and justice.  Makes no sense for her to have such a drastic personality transplant unless the writers plan on resurrecting the brain tumor excuse they used for Jana.  For another, in what universe would Christine Blair EVER hook up with Terrible Tom?  LOL.

If the only way that LLB would come back as CB..is that she was a major troublemaker..then I believe it too. I think times have changed since CB was that perfect princess..and her coming back this way makes a lot of sense.

I went back to the site that I took the Topic information from. I re-read and it has some blatant errors. I realize now that anything taken from this site should be taken seriously.

One example is saying that Michael Baldwin raped Christine...well I know he didn't. It was Derek Stuart who date-raped Christine. Michael sexually harrased Christine while they worked together at a law firm. She taped one of their conversations and used it to get him fired. He then began stalking her and dug throught the wall from the adjoining apartment and held her captive. He attempted to rape her but did not actually rape her. Paul Williams and Nathan Hastings saved her, and Michael Baldwin was put in prison.

There is NO WAY the Christine we all watched all those years would do any of this. Of course, that doesn't mean these current writers won't do it, as they've shown us more than once that they don't give A DAMN about who these characters are or whether the story they are writing for them today "fits".

They have also shown us that they are not capable of writing their own compelling story for the newer, younger characters that isn't a repeat of something we already saw. What other reason would they have for *continually* going back in history to pull out and bring back characters that someone ELSE created and built? Too lazy to create and build their own!

Not a given that this "rumor" is anything but a rumor. If it's true, it's pretty lame!

How can you have history on a fictonal show?  lol  History is whatever the current writers tell us it is.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Just because it's fictional doesn't mean it doesn't have a history! It has a fictional history. And no, the history is NOT whatever the current writers say it is! The history IS WHAT WE SAW. It is a CONTINUING fictional story. If they aren't going to honor the history that many of us watched, there is no point in it being a continuing story ..... April
  • If there's no history, what's the point? I remember the dream year on Dallas, what a waste of time getting interested in a plot just to find out it didn't happen.
  • Exactly. The way you felt, as a viewer who watched that whole season, when they told you it was only a dream is PRECISELY why it is such bad, bad storytelling to do that to loyal viewers. Just because it's fiction does NOT mean, when you're telling a continuing story, that there's nothing wrong with changing history whenever you feel like it. I mean, sure, go ahead, but don't expect to maintain or increase ratings that way! ..... April

No, it wouldn't make good conversation because it's the most absurd, implausible thing I've ever heard. Not really worth discussing, IMO.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • I did say I am not inclined to believe it. But when it comes to Y&R nothing is implausible. They rewrite history constantly and write absurd storylines. Let's hear your plausible thing. Capricorn. eom.
  • The group that has been writing for the last few years has rewritten more major show history than was ever done in the first 30+ years. I can only think of one obvious re-write in the first 30 years. This group, however, can't seem to take more than one step forward without taking ten backward to resurrect some old character or story and bring them forward with a ridiculously unbelievable re-write. And to patty34, fiction doesn't mean that it changes from one week to the next and doesn't have a history, it just means that it's not a true story. All the elements of good storytelling apply even more when you're telling a fictional story, and one of those is not insulting your audience by telling them what they saw/read yesterday didn't really happen .....
