When Billy told Jack he and Mac had broken up, Jack was rather snippy.
(I am glad that they broke up, as they had little or no chemistry.)
"Sorry to hear that," Jack barked, walking away.
"Come on, Jack," Billy said.
"You got a problem you can't deal with, go to someone else," Jack hissed. "I'm through cleaning up your messes."
"I'm sorry I bothered you," Billy responded coolly, and walked off.
For a minute it looked like Jackie's maternal instincts might kick in, but he let Billy go.
What a drama queen.

Message: I think the actor who plays Billy is terrific; hopefully they won't completely destroy his character, ala Adam. There's a lot of great *potential story* there if they just spend the time and effort on THAT instead of on dredging up more OLD history to undo and re-write.
Jack is haughty, but that's not completely out of character ... Jack has bounced back and forth from haughty to sensitive over the years. One would THINK that by now, at his age, he'd have mellowed some though.
Personally, I'm tired of nearly EVERY character, regardless of age, being so close to the edge all the time. There is NO balance. I'd like *a little* harmony. Part of Y&R's old, successful formula were the heartwarming, poignant moments. Y&R's success was NOT only built on wall-to-wall, back-to-back conflict and chaos, which the current writers seem to want to pack every last SECOND with.

Message: I think Jack is just channeling Mildred Pierce when she cut vicious daughter Veda out of her life. I think like Mildred, Jack will eventually come around.

Message: Jack's attitude makes me feel kind of sorry for Billy. Sure, he can be a jerk and a screw-up, but the kid's father is dead, his mother practically ignores him, and his brother and sisters are all an entire generation older than he is. I always imagine that Billy feels sort of alone at times. Maybe Ghost John needs to make another appearance and tell Jackie to give his younger brother a break.

Message: I am not understanding Jack's attitude towards Billy. Jack does not turn on Ashley even though she continuously sided with a revolting man who tried to destroy him and their family. He continued to be there for Ashley even when she would screech at him like a banshee and treat him like dirt when he tried to warn her about the old geezer she was hung up on. Ashley treats Jack like dirt yet he takes it and never shuts her out of his life. Yet he is so mean spirited to Billy. Sure Billy slept with Jack's wife at the time which was awful but Jack forgave Sharon so he can't forgive Billy. Billy has messed up a number of times but he has not done anything to warrant Jack shutting him out of his life especially when he is so forgiving of Ashley. Jack is coming across like an azz.

I'm not at all surprised by Jack's reaction (or lack thereof). He pretty much 'divorced' Billy as a brother the other day...same day his divorce from Chloe was final. Something will probably happen to bring Jack back around, but it certainly won't be his breakup with Mac, though Jack probably thinks well of Mac, I think he sees that there isn't chemistry between them like there was between him and Chloe...I think that's why he encouraged the marriage like he did...also so he wouldn't miss out on his child's life like Jack has with his children.
It'll have to be a major shakeup I think for Jack to come around, like another crisis with Ashley or Tracy or some health-related thing with Billy or Jack or heaven-forbid Delia. I think at this point, that's probably where they will go when they decide to bring Jack around as it would be a good way to create more triangle with Billy/Chloe/Chance if Delia is sick.
