Subject: This is a joint property and, in order to get a loan against it, BOTH owners have to sign on it if they have not given each other power of attorney. When they have done so, both are solidarily (one or the other) entirely responsible for the totality of the loan. I know, because our house is in both our names, and to get a loan against it, we both have to sign or one gives a paper to the other entitling him to take this loan and only this one. - Marilou
