Additional Comments:

Suffolk, VA, the city where my friend who survived breast cancer lives, was hit with tornadoes last night.  Her neighborhood is pretty much demolished, including her lovely new home.  I was just there last September, having fun at her costume party and celebrating her survival.  She is fine, no injuries, thank goodness.  She says she didn't feel this lost when she was diagnosed with cancer.  I can't imagine what it is like to lose everything you own.  Sometimes life just keeps punching you.  I hope she will bounce back from this big blow too.

Katiesbeach - are you close enough to Suffolk to have seen the tornadoes?

I saw the devastation in TV.  That is so sad for your friend. Furniture can be replaced but the loss of photos and other personal things that mean more.  I am a photo obsessed person and I was thinking through the years I sent duplicates to relatives. If she lost photos maybe relatives have some she may have sent them that she could have again.  (I hope what I just said makes sense.)

  • I completely understand what you said and agree. The photos and personal items like that are next to impossible. I do hope her family and some of her friends will be able to get copies of at least some of them. rushlan

Rushlan, I'm sorry to hear that your friend's home was destroyed in the tornado, but I'm glad she wasn't injured. What an ordeal for her, especially after she had cancer. I really feel for her.

P.S. I hope you're still enjoying your new job!

Yes, I saw them! I know many people who were affected. A tree went through my brother's house and is now in his attic. I am only about 10 miles from the major destruction. It's terrible around here right now.

  • 10 miles is pretty darned closed. I am glad you didn't suffer any damage and sorry your brother did. rushlan

That's terrible but thankfully she is okay.  A couple of years ago I had a LOT of really bad things happen at once, too many to even begin listing. But one month was particularly bad. My mum died, my husband and his brother both had a heart attack and almost died and then the final straw was when I was in a bad car accident on the highway. I have no idea how I wasn't killed. At first I thought man I must be cursed. Then I decided no, my husband and I survived.  We must be blessed.  Sounds like your friend has angels watching over her after all she's gone through. She sounds like a strong woman.

  • She is a strong woman and I have huge respect for her. You are also seeming to be quite a strong woman. I have (probably we all have) had spells like that too, and it is hard to pick yourself up sometimes. But you just have to do it. I am glad you picked yourself up when you were having bad times. rushlan
