Additional Comments: I've noticed that you never see bedspreads anymore. So what's on your bed? Quilt? Comforter? Duvet?  I have a navy blue duvet with the matching shams and skirt etc. On top of it I have a beige crocheted spread (or it could be a table cloth) that my mother spent hours making for me a long time ago. I wish I could just get a nice bedspread though instead of the duvet.  Remember when everyone had those chenille spreads? If you can find one they're quite expensive now!

My bed has a bedspread on it.  It is a Cannon brand and came from Wal-Mart, before 2000, I think.  It's a southwestern looking design in dark green, blue, purple, brown.  I don't like comforters and bedskirts.  When I was a teenager, I had ribcord bedspreads because I sat on my bed a lot.  You can't find them at all except industrial manufacturers for nursing homes and you have to buy them in dozens.  Fingerhut's catalog has some bedspreads, including chenille.  fingerhut.com

My time at home is so limited, I rarely make up my bed.  I'm ashamed to admit that because I was reared differently.  I always made my bed when I lived with my parents.  Now, things like that just go by the wayside.

I use a quilt in the winter and just a sheet in the summer.  Here in WA, we don't have air conditioning, so the sheet is heavy enough.  I do have a ceiling fan over my bed, but I rarely need it.   I have a beautiful queen, navy blue, duvet, but I don't have any queen beds now.  I couldn't part with it because it is so classy.  Someday.  For now it is hung in the closet....

Right now I have two new comforters.  A third one is in a duvet cover, folded, at the bottom of the bed.

The two new ones are made of some satin-y material.  They and whatever's on top of them invariably slip off during the night.  I wake up with this heap on the floor at the bottom of the bed.

If you know what cutwork is, that's what I like in bed coverings.  It's stylish without being frilly.

We have comforters on all our beds.  I have a few lovely quilts and bedspreads made by my grandmother but unfortunately the colors don't go with our decor.  I'm glad to have them for keepsakes, though.

We have a duvet on the master bed. We find it cozy in the winter and enough on those cooler summer nights. My son prefers his comforter. We've tried a duvet there but he likes the weight of a comforter. The guest bedroom has a spread with my grandmother's quilt folded on the foot. I bought the spread out of the Sears catalogue. They have a pretty good selection. For the sleep sofa, I have some heirloom quilts that I can use if our guests reach the number requiring the sofa.

  • I like duvets but I have one that is just way too hot so we ended up putting the duvet cover over an old comforter. Too bad because that duvet cost $300! - Pronoun
  • I know you are supposed to cover your duvets, but I find the covers change the duvets.. they become too hot. I don't cover ours, but I do clean them often. Denise

We have a  down comforter on our bed  I had a white Bates cotton Hobnail that I liked. My sister used to buy chenilles even damaged at thrift shops and rummage sales.  They call them cutters because although damaged people use the good areas for making pillows cute little bedroom stools etc.  Here is an Ebay link for chenille bedspreads and the other is our auctions. Read our feedback and look for comments like ours before you buy.

    http://search.ebay.com/chenille-bedspread_W0QQfrtsZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ34QQsbrsrtZd

    http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewListedItems&since=2&userid=zbskt&include=0&rows=50&sort=3&completed=1

If you try Ebay.  Just be sure to read the sellers feedback (that is the number after the sellers name. Read the comments made buy previous buyers.) You can sort items by lowest price, ending soonest, highest price ending soonest, or newly listed. You can put one on your watch list and you'll get an email telling you its closing soon.  You can probably get one ''pick up only'' near you that would save postage.  Just remember feedback feedback feedback.
