Turned on nogin for some background nosie while I was feeding Lucy and
she was mesmerized. Meanwhile as I watched I could feel my brain turning
to mush, and now I can't get those songs out of my head. Being a
glutton for punishment I set it up to record.......
Good Lord! I've seen Yo Gabba Gabba a few times, but luckily for me, my kids aren't all that interested. The first time I saw it, I sat there with my mouth hanging open in disbelief.
Nowadays, they're more into Pinky Dinky Doo, Lazy Town, Arthur and SpongeBob. I can tolerate those shows just fine. They also love Angelina Ballerina, which doesn't bother me, either.
Thank God the Caillou phase is over, I thought that show would make me lose my mind. When my daughter Erin was on chemo, I bought every Caillou tape I could find, and we'd bring it with us so she could watch them during her infusions. She was also paralyzed at the time, (she couldn't walk for 15 months after her strokes) so I felt so bad for her, I'd let her watch Caillou non-stop all day long. So on top of it being very annoying, it also brings back alot of bad memories.
Did you ever go through the Boo-Bah phase? That was another wacky show.

Message: Mz Chris, I remember when Leo was a little guy and first getting into kid shows on TV. I used to watch with him and it was like being on another PLANET it was such new territory for me, LOL. Leo especially loved Sesame Street and so did I. His favorite segment was Elmo's World and whenever the character would come on he'd light up and yell, "MELMO!" So cute. Leo also loved Theodore Tugboat and Winnie the Pooh. Looking back on it, I feel it was a privilege to be part of that innocent little world. I kind of miss it sometimes.
Being that I'm not a parent, I'm so clueless about kids' shows - to the point of even having an aversion to them. But my almost two year old niece LOVES Caillou. So now I've seen most of those episodes! I get PBS Sprout free on my OnDemand and my niece was PSYKED when she saw that she can watch Caillou at Auntie Debbie's house! She loves her nana, but one time she was over my mother's house and pointed at the tv and said she wanted to watch Caillou. My mother had to tell her she can't get Caillou on her Tv. To that, my niece said to her, "But Debbie's tv gets Caillou!" Hee hee!
So I'm a hero to my niece as a result. Suffering through a few Caillou episodes once in awhile (and they're BAD) is a small price to pay to see my niece happy.
