So now that I'm settled into my new place, I decided to see if I can buy another TV for either my living room or bedroom (I have one now, and depending on what I end up buying, the better one will go in the living room). I've been pricing them everywhere - even Overstock - and for a good one, you can expect to pay AT LEAST $300+! I remember the days when I used to walk into Best Buy and walk out with a relatively decent TV for less than $150! This is insane!
I don't care about LCD, flat screen, High Definition or any of those other bells and whistles. All I want is a relatively nice TV that also looks good, is in stock, and WORKS, from a retailer that is credible. The few cheap ones I have found had horrible reviews about either the product or the seller, or they were childrens' type of TVs.
This is driving me crazy. In the meantime, if any of you find any good deals out there, feel free to pass them along!

Message: Don't forget that after the first part of next year, you won't be able to use just any television, depending on how you get your signal. If you get your signal via cable or satellite, you'll be okay, but if you get your signal over the air you will need to get a digital tuner box. I agree with the other posters--once you have tried an LCD or similar type of television, you will not want to go back to a big ole box set. CraigsList is a good resource. Good luck!

Message: We bought an LCD last year and I would never go back to the old clunker now. I love that there is no glare from the sun etc. The picture is great and when it's not on it doesn't stick out like a big box in the living room. It's a 32 inch and I think we paid $599 at Costco. (Would have got a bigger one but they don't fit in the TV wall unit) I read an article about how people are converting their wall units into all sorts of things. Too bad you can't do anything with the old TV's except send them to the trash.

Message: We were just having that same conversation over on the DOOL board last week. Try craigslist.
Have you checked Wal-Mart, Target or K-Mart? If you lived in the same city I'd sell you one of mine. I have a nice 27'' in the basement that I rarely use. What about a second hand website? A local one like kijiji. Or watch your local paper.
