McCain is beginning to make me sick.  I cannot believe he was sitting next to a woman who could potentially be a heartbeat from the Presidency as though he were the parent of a child called to the Principal's office.  Never in my 60 years on this planet have I seen such an asinine political campaign.  I have gone beyond amused to angry.  I cannot believe anyone would even consider voting for this dimwitted duo.  McCain has gone completely over the edge.  The way he jumped in when Katie Couric asked Palin is she regretted her answer looked as though his famous hairtrigger temper was about to erupt.  He did not even respect her enough to answer a question that was directed at her.  What a mess they are.

  • ITA. It boggles my mind that people will actually vote for those idiots. ~i&b
  • How true - McCain himself showed complete disrespect for Palin, because he totally jumped in and answered FOR HER! As if she was incapable of dealing with Couric's question herself. It looked like what it was ... panic, and an attempt to stifle her./faysie
  • I think McCain would have self destructed sooner or later with or without Palin. She just seemed to have expidited the process.....................Liz

A comment on a news channel was made that John McCain sitting next to Sarah Palin was like a father sitting next to his daughter, making sure she wouldn't get herself into trouble.

There is such a thing..and I won't vote for anyone who practices dirty politics. I hope SP..really is doing her homework...because she could be flunking out by Thursday night. Biden can't wait to get that woman.

  • jmsmall.. it sounds like you are blaming Biden for Palin's situation. A couple of your responses to this thread had mentionned Biden. He's obviously her 'competition' as the other ticket's VP nominee, but to the best of my awareness he's remained fairly quiet & circumspect about her. He certainly wasn't the 'voter' who questionned her in the restaurant a few nights ago, that this 'Gotcha' stuff is referring to. I'm not following why you're bringing him into the equation here. He's obviously going to be debating her on Thursday night, but if she learns her stuff well she should be ok. If she doesn't , I don't see how that Biden's fault?/faysie
  • So what if he does? You don't think the Republicans wouldn't stoop to every dirty tactic in the proverbial book if they had the upper hand here. I hope Biden crushes her in the debate & exposes her for the complete novice that she is. I only wish it was Hillary who would be getting this chance................Liz

I'll tell you what "GOTCHA" journalism is. It's when a horse's a$$ like Bill O'Reilly sends his flunkies out to ambush people as they are taking out the trash or removing groceries from the trunks of their cars while parked in their own driveways. Asking a vice presidential candidate a legitimate question about Pakistan is NOT "GOTCHA" journalism. I don't think they've even BEGUN to take the gloves off. If they are whining about this, just wait a couple of weeks.

  • Biden
  • I hate to break it to you, JMS, but Biden is not going to go after Palin. He doesn't have to. She doesn't need his help in order to look like an idiot. Biden will be one less thing you can blame SP's shortcomings on. ~i&b

McCain is an old fool.  He hasn't seen such excitement?  Well, I have have.  It was when the Beatles came to America.  And I'd prefer anyone of them than this idiot Palin.

I cannot believe the American people being dupped by the Republican party.

We simply must get Obama elected.  Tell your friends!

  • Some things in life just aren't meant to be & this is one of those things for McCain. I'd much rather be stuck with Obama than McCain anyday. It amazes me that Dubya has an approval rating in the toilet, yet there are those who are willing to risk the same old, same old & do it again. We simply cannot afford it. I wish we could get rid of Bush like yesterday........................Liz

IMO that looked so odd with McCain sitting right there with Palin.  As i&b pointed out,  it would have made more sense earlier on when she was first introduced, but now it looks like a rather pathetic need to protect her and oversee what she says. He wouldn't even let her answer Katie's question! He jumped in and took over!

I just watched the clip on CNN. Why on earth was John McCain sitting with her? That made her look even worse, like he was there to protect her, ready to step in when the questions are to tough and she doesn't know what to say. Geez, who's going to sit beside her if she ever became president. I actually don't even mind McCain (though I'd never want him for president) but she scares the living daylights out of me.

  • You know, I could have seen them doing joint interviews when McCain first unveiled Palin as his VP pick. That could have been done under the guise of showing them together as a team. But it's way too late for that now. It just looks like McCain is babysitting. ~i&b
  • I guess he will shadow her from now until the election. He'll probably be standing at the podium with her on Thursday as she debates Joe Biden. Just to make sure Joe isn't mean to her or puts out any ''GOTCHA'' questions. McCain looked old, pasty & mad while he sat there..............................Liz
  • ''old, pasty and mad''? Now, Liz, you're stealing my material....LOL......Kate

There's more coming. Katie did more interviewing last week that has yet to come out. I read this on Politico earlier -

Of concern to McCain's campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin's interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.

The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.

After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.

There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.

Heck, I'm just a middle age woman who has never held any sort of office, and I can name several Supreme Court cases off the top of my head.

So first it was that mean ole Charlie Gibson picking on Palin.  Then it was those mean beyotches picking on McCain on The View.  Next it was Mean Girl Katie Couric picking on poor wittle Sarah.  Now an individual voter is mean because he ''played gotcha'' by having the gall to ask Palin a legitimate question as to how she views the situation in Pakistan.

And what about all those Republicans like George Will who are pointing out that Empress Palin has no clothes?  Are they all big ole meanies, too?

Geez, who knew the Republicans are the Sensitive Skin party?

  • oh you forgot that *Katie C. is just a mean ole Liberal and we are uneducated so we shouldn't watch that* ~~

Have you noticed how the McCain campaign always blames someone else when things go wrong? They blame Obama, Nancy Pelosi, the media, the ''angry left'', elitists, voters. etc. It's always someone else's fault, never theirs. Campbell Brown was saying that Sarah Palin has lost her confidence, but I think the problem is that she has too MUCH confidence. She thinks she can do anything, including run the country if need be. She is delusional. She has been a big fish in a very small pond for so long that she believes her own press. Put her up against former presidents ( because she could be president some day. ) Roosevelt, Truman, Carter, Clinton, Reagan, Jefferson. Lincoln. Does she belong in that group? Of course not!

  • Campell Brown also told the McCain camp to stop being sexist in regards to Sarah Palin. Let her speak for herself. They are too scared to LOL.................Liz

Oh, man alive. I was certain this couldn't be worse than the previous interviews with Couric. See how wrong you can be. People in pizza places are playing gotcha journalism. Blaming voters--that's always a good move. It's not her fault she can't handle the most basic aspects of running for high office.

They're making it way too easy for Saturday Night Live.
