I'm still going through our many vacation photos from CA and thought I'd share a few:

Here's Leo walking along Stinson Beach, near Muir Woods.  It was freezing here that day.  I can see why folks say they go to the coast for the "natural air conditioning."

Speaking of Muir Woods, here's a little Bambi we saw right along the path we were walking.  This fawn seemed to have no fear of people and was SO cute.

We really enjoyed the Monterey Aquarium, especially the sea otter and jellyfish exhibits.  These jellies were my favorites.

Here's the Lone Cypress, famous CA landmark, near the end of scenic 17-mile drive at Pebble Beach.

Oh, Peri ... these pictures are GORGEOUS!!!! They look professional. And I'm not just saying that cuz I like you. :o)

We loved the Monterey Bay Aquarium, too. It is hands down the best one I've been to. Of course, the jellies are my favorite as well! I'm mesmerized by them ... they are so relaxing to watch, aren't they?!?

That 17-Mile Drive is a sight to behold. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And before I forget .. I canNOT believe how grown up Leo is getting to be. *sigh* How time flies.

  • Thanks for your nice comments, Marie. I usually take the vacation photos but these were all taken by Mr. P on his new camera. Most of them turned out pretty nice. I could've spent an entire day at the coastline here. Maybe we'll get to do that someday. - Peridot

How beautiful! Your photographs are just gorgeous. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Central CA is just beautiful. I love Carmel, Monterey, etc. If you ever return for another visit and pass through San Luis Obispo look into the Madonna Inn. The rooms are all unique and so different. Some have walls made from rock. The safari room has a rock shower with a waterfall overhead. There are too many different rooms to list but you can look for yourself here: Madonna Inn Room List

And if you are ever in Northern California you must check out Mendocino. It is the greatest town. Sigh...I just love all the different parts of California.

  • Cathy, wine country is the furthest north we ventured, but I'd definitely like to see more of CA. Thanks for the inn recommendation. My son would love the safari room with a waterfall! - Peridot

I'm chuckling here because Mr. Ingy and I took a trip to CA in May and your pictures look just like ours.  Not only did we photograph that exact same tree on 17 Mile Drive but we also met up with a very friendly fawn (and it's equally friendly mama) in Big Sur and took a bunch of pictures of that, too.  And it was cold in that area, too!

  • That's funny, ingy. Isn't Carmel breathtaking? If we ever make it back to CA this is where I want to stay next time. - Peridot
  • Peridot, when next you go stay in Carmel, if you can get into the Highlands Inn, stay there. It's pricey, but there is no better view or service. Link inside. rushlan
  • Thanks, rushlan. That place looks right up my alley but hubby would put his foot down when he saw the price. A romantic weekend for us two, maybe, but never a week-long family vaca for 3. - Peridot

Great photos of some of my favorite places.  I just love the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, I think it is one of the best aquariums I have been to.  Leo looks like he is getting tall!  Thanks for sharing, looks like a good time.

  • Boston's New England Aquarium is great too, but I thought this one was a little easier to navigate. Leo is definitely getting tall. He's almost 11 and I figure I have maybe another year or two of being taller than he is. - Peridot
  • Yes, the aquarium in Boston is really good too. I here the newer one in Atlanta is quite fabulous but I haven't been to it yet. rushlan
