not sure how your physician feels about Tamiflu or if you are even a candidate for it.
my son just went back to school after having the flu and being diagnosed with "PROBABLE" h1n1.
so....you really should call or see your doctor, but this is how we took care of him with the flu:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
you alternate tylenol and motrin/ibuprofen as you can only take it every 4-6 hrs.
start w/motrin about 800 mg. ---that is every 6 hrs
3 hrs later you can take Tylenol---500 mg every 6 hrs...
so you are keeping your fever at bay for the most part.
LIQUIDS LIQUIDS LIQUIDS. water and gatorade. you should be drinking a cup of each AT LEAST every 1/2 hr.
sleep and take care of yourself! i hope you feel better soon! it took my son about 3-4 days to feel good.

My daughter was sick a couple of months ago, and what was a total blessing were the Pedialyte Pops. They are like Otter Pops .. and the flavor, when frozen, is much easier to stomach than regular Pedialyte .. but still provide much needed hydration and electrolytes. She lived off of them for 3 days!! .................... Marie
pedialite had just come out when my oldest was little. that was a lifesaver when they were so sick! can't believe they have pops! that is great!--carm

Sorry you are sick!
I don't think you need to go to the ER. A fever of 102 or 103 will not cause brain damage. It's the numbers around 105 or higher that are urgent.
From the Ontario Lung Association website:
Warning signs of severe flu in adults – get emergency help right away if you have one or more of these signs
* it's hard to breathe, you're short of breath
* blue or grey lips
* pain or pressure in your chest or stomach
* suddenly dizzy
* confused
* dehydrated, not peeing (no urine)
* lots of vomiting (throwing up)
* seizures
* your flu symptoms improve but then come back; your cough is worse and you have a fever.
I hope you feel better soon.

I think you should go to the emergency room or your family physician. You need to be checked out, that's a high fever to have. Let us know what happens.

Tylenol or Ibuprofen for the fever & body aches. Push fluids. Get plenty of rest. You should call your provider for further advice. A temperature of 102.4 is very uncomfortabe but not life threatening. I hope you begin to feel better within the next day or so. Do you have anyone to stay with you?

I live alone, but a friend of mine is also sick, and I may go stay with her if need be and we'll be sick together! LOL...my temp is 102.0 and holding. I am trying to drink whatever I can.

Are you still in Europe? At any rate, get thyself to a doctor. Meanwhile, drink lots of fluids, get lots of rest. Let us know how you're doing.

I don't go to Germany until January...took a lukewarm shower and took motrin, and my temp went down a little, but I am keeping a close eye on it. I will not be going to work tomorrow under any circumstances.

Took a lukewarm shower and the temp dropped to 101.6. Keeping a close eye on it and have a friend on standby to take me to the ER if I need it.
Camochick .. I just wanted to chime in here and assure you that I've seen more than a few fevers around our house that have spiked in the 104 degree area, and nobody was left with brain damage! I know extremely high fevers are indeed dangerous, but it sounds like you have taken the necessary steps to keep yours under control. It probably would have been a good idea to have your doctor give you Tamiflu .. but it needs to be taken pretty much at the onset of flu-like symptoms. Might want to call and see if today is still not too late for it to be beneficial. I truly wouldn't rush off to the hospital .. unless your fever doesn't respond to tepid baths and medication ... and you feel like your respiratory symptoms become worse. Hopefully you'll be feeling better in a day or two, after it's just run its course. :o) ............................... Marie
Glitter you scared me, but that is not that high. especially for an adult. A child I might worry if 104 or 105. Recently my son had the 3 day flu bug and his fever was 103. when you must watch if the fever does not go down after taking advil and using wet wash clothes, or luke warm bath. Also depends how and when you take the temp. Some people forget they just had some hot tea or ate something. ~~Bon
