This is so funny, that I just have to post.  My puppy (Vegas) gets out of the yard apparently whenever he wants to.  He goes running around and gets dirty as heck and then 'tries' to sneak back in.  He always comes back.  He knows my time schedule.  He knows to be there when I come home for lunch, and he usually knows about what time to be there in the afternoon when I get home.  Yesterday, I came home and he was no where.  I didn't panic though.  What was funny is that after I changed my clothes, I went and sat in the back yard with my other dog, and was just quiet.  Next thing I knew, he came wriggling under the fence and when he looked up and saw me watching him, the expression on his face was PRICELESS!  He spend the next couple of hours trying to get in my good graces.  It was so funny.

ROFL!  It's hilarious when my Kona gets caught in the act.  It's not sneaking out, it's getting into the trash and recycling.  One time, Mr. News went out, but I was still home.  Clearly, Kona was not aware of my presence, as not two seconds after the door closed behind Mr. News, I heard her knock the trash can over.  I walked in and she looked SO GUILTY!!  It's kinda hard to get mad at them when they look so adorable when they've been bad. : )

BTW, Vegas is so CUTE!

Hi.  I don't post here often, but I just had to respond.

Aren't you worried about Vegas getting hit by a car, or stolen?  He's such a pretty dog....

I get very aggravated with my neighbors who let their dogs get out all of time and don't a thing about it.   I find myself chasing the dog in my slippers and pjs to bring it back home safely only to get a smile, a thank you and a giggle - "Oh he got out again!!!  Little sucker".

Boy, do I hold back....

Just wondering,

Nicky

  • Nicky, I DO worry all of the time. My husband has put fence and barriers everywhere that we think he is getting out, but he manages to find a way. I want to get a electric fence, but the hubby won't let me. I THINK that he just goes and plays around in the back of our house where there is a lot of woods and water. It would kill me if something bad happened to him. Well, i'm off to check on him now! - Karen
  • Sorry Karen - I didn't want you to feel bad! I had a Houdini dog at one point too. We had him in fensed in yard and finally figured out that he actually climbed the chain link fense to get out (in record time). Then we put him on a collar and leash - got out of that. Then we got a harness. The strangest thing was to see that leash and harness laying on the ground, dog gone - harness still fully attached. And this was a big dog! From then on in, he got walked but it was a real pain and my neighbors thought I was such a ditz - they didn't want to here my excuses when they brought the dog back anymore than I want to hear my neighbor's excuses. It's a tough situation. I feel for you, but I feel for the dog mostly, but also for people who are petrified of unleashed dogs and motorists who can kill themselves trying not to hit him! I hope you find a way soon! Nicky
  • Thanks Nicky. I do love my pets...but things happen. Thankfully, he is such a smart and good boy, that he doesn't go far, seems to say out of the road, and always comes back. But you never know about that day when something unexpected could happen, and I don't want to go through it. So when hubby gets home tonight, we will go through the yard again to look for the 'way out..' I don't worry too much about him bothering people, because he steers clear of most people. That's what I've found out about Chows. They are extremely loving & loyal to their owners, but don't give anyone else a second thought. I'll try to beat this situation and keep you updated!
  • (Sam) There's a Chow that lives on our street that goes out for a walk by himself every night. Everyone is scared of him because he's killed a couple of cats. He also takes the time to crap or pee on every lawn he comes across. I'm surprised someone hasn't taken things into their own hands now since the owners don't seem to give a damn. So, sorry, but I don't find this story funny at all, and I hope you can figure out how he escapes soon.

Cute story!  Vegas has such a light coat it must be a lot of work to keep such an adventurous doggy clean.

The priceless look reminds me of the first Christmas we had Mr. Tuff.  He was still a big kitten and used to climb up the Christmas tree.  One day I spied him peeking out from the branches with this "Hi, Mom!" look on his face.  I would've been mad if he hadn't looked so cute and funny.

  • thanks! (and how'd you do that?)
  • Right click on the image, copy the properties, and then paste into the Mediadomain icon that looks like a picture of a mountain peak. Easy! ~i&b
  • Oops, that sould say ''copy the address from properties.'' ~i&b
  • ok, thanks. that worked!
