What's going on in your life?  Mine?

Friday night Mr. Long (former elementary principal, school board candidate) picked us up after Mass and we went to a small town to a small Methodist church for their annual Ham & Beans dinner.  Nice drive throught the farm country.  The Red Buds, Crabapples, Dogwoods, and wild cherries are all in bloom.  Farmers have been delayed working the soil since it's been so wet.

Yesterday, Ben and I planted 3 green peppers, 3 broccoli and 7 tomato plants.(is that enough?  I wonder).  He has 3 rows of green onions about 3'' tall.    My greenhouse is loaded.  I think I planted too many sunflower seeds!  Cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, dill, marigolds, zinnis !  Oh, my achin' back.  I puting some of those into the 'wild flower' area where we planted 4 lilacs.

My south garden is between the garage and the side area of the house.  Bunches of posies there plus grasses.  I'm trying to get up courage to build the river rock wall by my pole light ...it's by the bird feeder habitat.

I'm now getting ready to get dressed to go out and do the 'weed and feed' with the o'le John Deer and speader.  I do love the outdoors.  It's a beafutiful day in Indiana.

Ben is coaching Jr. Varsity Tennis and they have a match at Labanon (about 1 1/2 drive one way) right after school dismisses and I have plans go to the VFW for a 'meat loaf' dinner.

Nothing on my calendar this week .  OH!  Except VOTING Tomorrow!

What's going on in your world?

My life is busy as usual-and I have to say, that I'm happy with my life. One thing special that happened to me on Friday was...I got to hang out with Ingy and Mr. Ingy for a few hours before I had to dash back and teach a Women's Ministry group. That was the highlight of my week! They are adorable together. I felt comfortable with Mr. Ingy right away.

It was weird finding out that Mac Mac (on DOOL Board) passed away the very next day. I had just gotten an email from her that week, so I thought she must be doing better. I met one Board friend on one day and then lost another the next day. Life is strange sometimes-but still good...in so many ways :-)

Well not much right now but I am going to St Louis to visit my mom Wednesday.  She is in a nursing home in Chesterfield Mo. She's doing well mentally and lived on her own till last September. I always like to go but travel drains me.  It is just such a project.

We did a little gardening, put new mulch down. I will have some Daylilys, Amarillis, little white Iris, Agapanthus and Orange Cannas.  I do have one flower about to bloom now that is so beautiful and exotic. Its a Gloriosa Lily.  Last time I traveled I told my husband to take a picture of something I was going to miss .  He did but took the wrong flower lol.  So here is one like it. (left)  Gardening here isnt easy.  Sand for soil, salt air, lack of rain and 90 degrees from now till November.

Tony finished up his job 2 weeks ago so is catching up on things around here. Plus last week was mission week at church. He was foreman and in charge of making sure 5 or 6 projects got done. Mostly he delivered supplies and tools. He also worked on a few projects that needed help. Before he left for work in March he helped pick the projects. They do house painting and repairs for those unable to do it themselves, usually the elderly and handicapped.
I was a crew chief and headed up a sewing project for the ladies unable to do outside work. We made large bags with drawstrings to give the the CPS workers when they remover kids from homes. They can use them for the clothes rather then garbage bags. We also put some quilts together for the womens's shelter.
So last week was really busy. This week isn't much better.
But the thing I am excited about doing is to go see the rookery and the baby birds on Sat. We are taking our Hispanic pastor and his wife and daughter. That is such a marvelous place I just love it.

Some of the quilts we put together. I did the tops but the ladies put the backing on them.

Kate, your garden sounds nice!  The three of us recently finished cleaning up our yard for the spring and patching the lawn in places.  Everything is finally turning green and we're waiting for Leo's lilac bush to bloom soon.

Indoors we're forging ahead with our den renovation.  Everything is patched and painted, and we had carpet installed last week.  Mr. Tuff enjoys lolling on it and no doubt thinks we had it put in specifically for his comfort.  Hubby and I had our first experience putting in crown molding and lived to tell about it.  We've had new furniture in storage at La-Z-Boy all winter and hope to have it delivered this week.

This is a busy week for me, with rehearsals for final choral concert of the season Saturday night.  Hubby is busy with training seminars at work and hopes he doesn't have to travel too much this spring.  Leo is busy with school projects, Boy Scouts, and Little League.  He's looking forward to participating in the town fishing derby with his dad next weekend.  May is always one of our family's busiest months, it never fails.

I just saw the sweetest thing. We have a large cherry tree across the street that's in full bloom. It's kind of windy today and the petals are being blown off, turning the street pink, like pink snow. Our neighbors were out walking with their toddler and stopped to look at the petals. The man would take a handful of the pink petals and let them blow in the wind. The little girl would laugh, clap and stamp her feet with joy. Their cats were also with them, winding their way in and out of the child's legs. It was such a lovely time for the family, it made my heart happy.

It's all about the simple things, isn't it?

I have been spending my weekdays learning all I can about my job.  On Saturday we went to Cirque du Soleil and it was wonderful.  Sunday morning I got together for breakfast with some friends from a project I worked on about 5 years ago.  Then I did some yardwork.  I made some braised chicken for dinner.

Both my parents have had a terrible flu for the last week and last night was the first time they actually wanted some real food.  Seems they are on the mend now.

This week I will be working and learning more, though I think I have all the reading material finished.  Tomorrow night is a birthday party for a friend.  I will be figuring out a menu for Mother's Day dinner.  Mom says she wants me to decide what to have.

A friend has invited me to play some raquetball on Wednesday so I will probably do that and continue to go to the gym as usual.

I'm getting REALLY excited - getting ready to move. I signed my lease on Sat, so all is ready to go. I will be movign officially starting on 6/28. Yipee!! I bought a bunch of stuff online over the weekend for my new place. I even found a really nice sleeper sofa on Craigslist for $75. So I put that in storage until I can move.

I'm taking next week off for vacation, and I'll be spending most of it cleaning/packing/throwing stuff out (anyone want an air conditioner??? LOL).

I also just put in for the first week in July off so I can move and then stay home and decorate/wait for the cable guy/get used to my new surroundings.

So pretty much all I do over the next few months will be about moving. Every time I think about it, I get excited. I can't wait!!!

Other than that, my father has been home from the hospital, so I've been trying to go over every week to help him out with stuff. He loses energy when he tries to do dishes/make the bed, whatever. Fortunately, he was able to get a housekeeper to help him w/ these things. Since I work, I am not able to be there every day.

Oh and does anyone get TV guide? Check out page 34!! Mmmmmmmy baaaby made sexiest lawyer on TV, LOL!!!!

For me, right now, life is good :-)
