My favorite is "SUMMER" by a group from the 80s called War:
Ridin' 'round town with all the windows down Eight track playin' all your fav'rite sounds The rhythm of the bongos fill the park The street musicians tryin' to get a start
'Cause it's summer Summer time is here Yes it's summer My time of year
Sound familiar to anybody? It has lots of cool sounds, bongos, and other percussion that I can't even begin to identify!

Message: It's hard to choose a favorite, but I really like Fourth of July by Shooter Jennings. Kid Rock has a new one that I really like too, called All Summer Long. There are a few songs by Alan Jackson that make me think of my summers growing up, especially Chattahoochee (I grew up on it) and Summertime Blues.

One of my favorites is "Summer In the City" by the Lovin' Spoonful. The lyrics, the traffic sounds--very evocative. I also like the surfing songs by the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean.
On the classical side, I enjoy listening to Debussy and Ravel during the summer. So many of their works have that "air and water" quality.
