Topic: What does your Google look like?

Lately, something has been driving me crazy - albeit a petty thing, I just can't figure out what I did to cause this change:

My Google page used to have blue font when you enter something, and also had a count of suggestions...now it's black, and has bolded font, and no suggestions...Ok, I know it's trivial, but I really liked the way my 'old' page looked, as I depend on Google for all of my searches.  Has anyone else noticed a change?  My pc is set to update Internet Explorer automatically, and I have not added anything other than to allow those auto-updates.

Care to share what your Google looks like?

JEM, it is just a Google search setting. When IE updated it probably deleted the cookie with your preferences on it. Click on the "Search Settings" link in the upper right hand corner of the Google homepage, then scroll down to "Query Suggestions" and select the "Do not provide query suggestions in the search box" option. Hit the "Save Preferences" button, and it should be back to the way you like it.

  • Thanks, Cherry, but perhaps I mis-typed what I meant: There ARE suggestions, but not the NUMBER of suggestions found that match...in other words, just my word, plus bolded extensions, but no number of suggestions...does that make sense? I do appreciate your input though...
  • Oh, I see now I got that pretty wrong in my previous post -- what can I say, it was Saturday night. ;) It must be an IE thing, maybe it's storing a javascript error... try clearing your cache. Detailed instructions here, if you need them: http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=497 -- just click on whatever version of IE you're using.
