Additional Comments: I have noticed that we have posters here from all over the US and Canada. So I thought it would be fun to discuss what my non Texas friends call an oddity. I am from Texas and love it madly. I can't explain it. But I do. And so do most of the other people I know from this fine state. Now this is meant to be amusing of course.
Do citizens of your state do any of the following:
1. Own and wear t-shirts and caps with "Don't Mess With (insert name of state)!!
2. Display bumper stickers with the same as above.
3. Do those not native born display bumper stickers with "I wasn't born in ______________, but I got here as fast as I could."
4. Have pavestones and swimming pools in the shape of the state.
5. Get singled out of a group in a foreign country and given preferential treatment for being from your state.
6. Wear or display statements on clothes and cars with statements like "I am a __________ first, an American second!"
7. Display the state flag on their front porch.
8. When forced to live in another state while pregnant, travel back to their state just to give birth to their child on ___________soil and have ____________on the birth certificate.
9. Have children spend multiple semesters dedicated to ___________history.
10. Wear caps with the shape of the state or state flag on them.
Anyway, I have to laugh when my friends point out that their home state's citizens do nothing of the
kind. What do you guys think?

Message: Having been born in and lived in Delaware all of my life, I don't know of anyone who does the same here. I even overheard one person ask when someone said they were from Delaware, ''What state is that in?'' We are the 'First State'', but relatively little known.

Message: Don't forget about Bubba Burgers that are in the shape of Texas....we even have those in Georgia! LOL
My youngest (drumson) moved to Corpus Christi in September. Prior to that, I took "Don't Mess With Texas" in a different context; that being, don't bother going to Texas, it's not worth it. (Ducking for cover, LOL) Now that I have offspring living there I feel differently, of course.
We visited there in March (loved Corpus Christi and San Antonio's Riverwalk by the way) and everything imaginable comes in the shape of Texas. I even purchased pasta that is shaped like Texas. I live in Illinois and I've never seen Illinois shaped pasta!
I now own and proudly wear a tee shirt that reads: Someone in Texas loves me.
As for Illinois, we are known as the Land of Lincoln. When abbreviated that's LOL - need I say more?!

Message: While I can't claim any of your list (I'm from Canada), I have visited the great state of Texas a number of times and it is wonderful! All of the little "quirks" that you have listed are just a part of what makes it special - you are very lucky to be a Texan!! A beautiful place to visit and I can't wait to get there again :o)

Message:
it seems Texans are the most vocal group so far regarding this new planned "Tran-Texas Corridor" highway that the new world order is planning, which will involve, among other things, charging tolls on existing highways already paid for by our tax dollars. I saw it in one of Alex Jones' documentaries.
I think if any part of the country would get all up in arms about losing its liberties, it's going to be Texas. Right now, most Americans are pretty complacent, or entirely ignorant about things such as the Patriot Act, but I think one day some citizens will not take things lying down and are going to raise some Texas hell!
