I'm really sorry to hear that about your paper. It's such a shame what has happened to newspapers in recent years.
As someone who made the transition out of them recently, I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you there is life on the other side. It's definitely a rough time to be doing it, but there are opportunities for people who can gather information, write concisely and edit outside the world of newspapers.
