Sudoku puzzles.  A friend brought me a book while I was under house arrest with my foot.  These are so much fun.  I love the numbers and having to use my brain to figure the puzzles out.  Some are really easy and some are so difficult they take days.  Does anyone else do these great brain teasers?

I have a severe math aversion...I was tramatized in 3rd grade and never recovered. However, I love word games of any kind. Reading was always my favorite subject in grade school...I guess cause I was good at it.  My favorite childhood memories involved mom and dad taking me to the library, picking out books and having them read to me.

I used to do them fairly often, but got bored and found they were becoming way too easy. Then a friend of mine bought me a Kakuro book. If you enjoy Sudoku, you should definitely try it. It's a lot like Sudoku, but it gives you a number (sum) in the corner and a certain number of empty spaces and the digits (1-9) that you use have to add up to the sum in the corner, but you can't duplicate any number and the totals have to match vertically and horizontally. I probably made it sound really complicated, but once you see it, it's really not. It's just challenging, but fun.

I don't play it because I really hate numbers, lol.  But my daughter is totally addicted to Soduku. She always has a book in her purse to pull out whenever she is waiting etc. Every Xmas I get her a big Soduku book and last year I got her an electronic hand held Soduku game (okay it was free with a magazine subscription but she likes it!)

No, but I see a ton of people doing them on the bus going into work. I'm not a numbers person at all, and was never a fan of crossword puzzles (soduku seems like a numbers crossword puzzle to me), so they never interested me. Not to mention, I don't have the patience for them. But I know they are very popular.

  • Yes you need to like numbers and have patience with them, as they can be frustrating. rushlan
  • LOL - two things I am HORRIBLE at: Patience and numbers! I guess this game is not for me, huh? :-).............DebS

Me, too, rushlan!  In fact, I feel like I spend TOO much time on them when I could/should be doing other things.  I quit once for a few weeks but the old craving came back! ;-)

  • I think they were a really good way to keep my mind occupied when I had nothing else to do. I foundthem to be pretty good entertainment. rushlan
